I have heard that Batoon and Harris are moving to analyst jobs so until you have their replacements you wont hear about it officially. Now that the two coordinator jobs are open you would assume that no one is officially fired until they hire new coordinators so those people can assist in the pickings of the new staff.

I'm hoping he's giving the new OC free range to pick his staff like he's hinted to with the DC. We can have the best recruiting and scheming rushing coach in the country, but with Luke behind the line we'll be in the same spot next year.

Luke doesnt pick the scheme or call the plays.

Spoiler alert- it doesn't really make any difference who the new offensive coordinator is going to be if Freeze won't get out of his way.

"It's 4th and 1 coach, what do you want to do?"
"Throw the fade, they'll never see it coming."

The thing that is more concerning and not really mentioned thus far is Barney got canned. So does this mean he was a sacrificial lamb to placate the NCAA or does that mean more really bad shite has been uncovered? I know our talking heads have said it was several minor offenses but do we trust what they are saying?

Umm, correct. But he's responsible for teaching the line how to block, which he's failed miserably at. I'm saying the scheme and play calling mean nothing and makes no difference if the line can't function as a unit and block to execute said plays.

It's hard to block when you don't know if it's a pass or a run play in an RPO.
You don't know to drive or set back. It's more of the scheme we block fine when we know it's a run.
I don't put this blame on Luke but the system is not advantageous for lineman to dominate.
They have to be extremely versatile and even then not knowing what techniques is best doesn't give them the optimal footing

i definitely agree we should have more designed runs...but damn we had multiple failed 3rd and shorts and 4th and shorts these last few years...The only time i remember getting a majority of them was when Liggins was falling forward with his 300 pound frame haha

"It's 4th and 1 ( 3 rd and 1) what should we call the Fade they'll never see it coming!"
I feel like our decision making on 3 rd/4 th and short was so mind bogglingly dumb or obvious most of the time.
Also if we are hurrying to the line after first down and snap it quickly it's run up the gut every time, teams knew what to look for there was no deception.
And in the second half opponents made adjustments and shut us down.
While we were successful in first half on some plays so we stuck with what was working playing right into the oppositions adjustments.
I.e. state putting a Spy on Shea P second half, etc

This is my all time favorite Hugh Freeze play call:
"Just scored a touchdown in Bryant Denny, coach. Should we kick the PAT?"
"No... no... I've got this... Put in Ryan Buchanon and lets throw a backwards pass to Robert Nkemdiche. It's gonna work"

Major Applewhite's name had come up as a potential OC candidate, but no longer, as he was just named head coach at UH.

Texas didn't want apple white coming back with Herman, so they left him out and then Houston hires him over Joey freshwater. Interesting situation there

So will Lane bolt Bama to join Coach O's staff at LSU?
Posted on 12/9/16 at 10:55 am to ABearsFanNMS
Not sure a move to LSU makes sense. It's a lateral position change, is LSU OC more attractive than Alabama? Only reason (IMO) is for $.
Rumors of him going to USF. Not sure how attractive that position is either, you'd think he could do better.

LSU would have to drop a lot of cash that's literally the only appeal.
