Jonathan (frick your 2003 hopes and dreams) Nichols

Made 2 50+ yard field goals to beat Vandy. Kicked multiple long range field goals to help us beat Florida and single handedly beat Arkansas 19-7 with 4 FGs that game.

Wouldn't have won 10 games without him. You could argue he did just as much for the team as Eli that year.

Ole Miss fans hate on him WAY too much.

That's why he won the Lou Groza award.

BUT that's the life of a kicker. Nobody remembers any of that. They just remember that night in 03.

You're the same way about Snead, who won us 18 games.

Don't be mad just because he went to your high school, he did crush our dreams after all.

How so? We would have lost to Vandy, Arky and UF if it weren't for him.

Because he fricked up against LSU, just as behop said.

Perhaps. But it's the reality of it.

Maybe our defense should have stopped LSU from scoring on one 80 yard play. Maybe Eli shouldn't have choked and fallen down. Maybe that ref should have not called Collins out of bounds on a long touchdown pass when he wasn't.

It's not all Jonathan Nichols fault. And to think it is is ignorant.

I know but it's just annoying that he is the scapegoat for not winning the West in '03 when we wouldn't have even been there had he not won 3 other games for us.

He placed himself on a pedestal by making every field goal all year and then missing two against LSU, it's shitty but its reality.

I just think you're being hypocritical considering your bashing of Snead who did many great things for us as well. And it's obvious that you're defending him because he went to your high school.

He actually missed one against Florida. Then missed 2 against LSU then another against State.

'08 LSU and the Texas Tech Cotton Bowl I give him credit for playing well. Even '09 Arkansas but Dexter won all our games in '09. Outside of those games, when was he that great?

True, but you can't sit here and tell me that the massive hate for him is warranted when he did far more good for us than bad.

I don't hate him, I'm just reiterating what he is unfortunately known for.

Ok. Who else is to blame that every Ole Miss fan gets behind for being the reason we lost the West in '03?

Eli didn't "choke and trip." All dawg Doug Buckles stepped on his fricking foot.

He may very well have thrown a pick, but who knows what might have been?

And dammit for derailing the thread

And it's what he's universally hated for by Ole Miss fans. And it's stupid that he's hated for because he did just as much for us that year as Eli did.

He wasn't exactly stellar that game though.

I've never heard Ole Miss fans blame anything on Eli when it comes to losing to LSU.
