That's the thing, if you ask most of the guys that earned a CMoH they will say "I didn't think, I was just doing what needed to be done". So there is no "choice", your training kicks in and you just go on "auto pilot" and do your job which is ensuring you & your unit survive. In sports it would be called being in "the zone".
