That's one hell of a bachelor pad.

quote:

When most of us think of our dream home, the words "entrapment vestibule," "blast door," and "escape hatch," probably don't come to mind. But when you live in a Cold-War era missile silo, those features tend to come standard.

That's exactly what lies underneath homeowner Alexander Michael's mysterious door. He's turned this bit of 1960s history (where Air Force crews used to live and work) into a subterranean abode. The industrial style (and noteworthy lack of sunlight) might not be for everyone, but owning 8 acres of land, and a 25,000 square-foot home 30 feet below isn't too shabby.

I just wasted a ton of time researching bunkers and underground homes. I'd totally do it if I could.

Yeah saw this guy's place on a TV show a few years ago. I thought it was cool then and now. I'd love to be able to do that.

Yep, this is the first thought that came to my mind as well. He is assured destruction, but who wants to live through a nuclear aftermath anyway? Not me.

Uncle Sam once offered me the opportunity to work in one of those in Minot ND. That's when I told him "bye-bye".

Don't have to worry about meth-monkey burglars kicking in your door. This should be the standard home in Arkansas and Missouri for that very reason.
