A woman is suing her 12-year-old nephew in Connecticut for $127,000 for injuries she says she suffered from his exuberant greeting at his birthday party four years ago.
New York City resident Jennifer Connell says the Westport boy acted unreasonably when he leaped into her arms at his birthday party when he was 8, according to the Connecticut Post.

it said the boy's mother died lasy year too....so was this aunt his maternal or paternal aunt- either way is crappy but if it was her sister who died...no words

In the other thrad on the regular OT it's been speculated (which would make sense) that the sister (boy's dead mother) may have left the boy some money and this beyotch was pissed that it wasn't left to her, so this is her roundabout way of getting it back.
You hate to think that there could actually be people out there that would do soemthing so low...but obviously there are.

My favorite part
White problems man. Those hors d'oeuvres plates are so heavy when loaded down with puff pastries.

I had figured this was a weird way of getting the kid's parent's homeowner's (that's a lot of apostrophes) insurance to cough up some money for her injury. You see related persons suing each other occasionally to get the insurance company to pay. Apparently this chick is just a terrible person.

It is a sad indictment that I am surprised by this.

This is sad; stupidity of this magnitude ceases to surprise me these days but still bums me out beyond words.

Not for $127k she didn't.
She's a social pariah now and is trying to walk back her idiocy. Too late.
If she'd filed suit for her actual medical costs (which were undoubtedly already largely covered under her health insurance plan), it would be defensible and not a big story.

It's highly likely her health insurance would not cover her unless she tried to get the money from the "at fault" party beforehand. They also likely dictated the amount.

When I worked in insurance I saw this a good bit. She should have had her sister file a claim on the HO policy as soon as it happened though. Once the medical portion of the policy was exhausted, the liability portion would have kicked in and covered the rest.
