Why didnt you just say you saw him smoking and level set the conversation?

Also where does butt chugging fit into the life insurance equation? just asking since you are a Vol etc.

"Hey, I just saw you smoking outside", not really a great way to build rapport.

"Have you ever consumed alcohol with your anus?" has never appeared on any insurance application.

Here's another tip, if you're applying for insurance of any kind, NEVER volunteer information that they don't ask for.

Are you interested in building rapport or preventing insurance fraud? You sound like you're more interested in the sale than that prevention of a crime.

By level setting, as a consultant to the client, saying "hey I saw you smoking" is likely to lead to a more honest conversation for the customer and you.

i've been in sales since 1983. That always worked with me. frick em if they lie to you. thats not helping them or you.

Pretty sure I handled the situation appropriately. I addressed the fact that I saw him smoking, thus preventing insurance fraud.

I suppose I could have addressed it earlier. Why you gotta break balls?

At any point in your life you have ever used health insurance, it's been databased. Even if you used the temporary insurance from your high school to get a physical to play sports, it's been databased.

I don't smoke. I do combustible and e-cig research. I get exposed. Will you cover me?

You might get rated up because of your occupation.

I'd have to know more about your occupation to make a risk assessment. I'm not an underwriter, so I don't have the final say. The underwriter may determine that your profession may be low risk.

Don't take it personally. EMTs, nurses, doctors all get rated up.

Check that paper allowing you to do business out of Nashville. Look at who signs it and you probably have your answer.

Nobody is forcing you to buy life insurance. Don't like the rate, don't buy it.

Yes, now go look at who signs the certificate that lets you sell insurance in Tennessee. Pretty sure it is from an office in Nashville and pretty sure that is the boss of bosses.

Are you talking about the Tennessee Insurance Commissioner?

I don't live in Tennessee, I do have a non-resident license there though.

Or you could just go with you started using tobacco after the question was asked and notify them of the change.

You were never asked if you would use it in the future, this is not as cut and dried as the insurance agent here suggest.
