I don't live in Alabama, I'm a registered Independent, and I'm not a fan of Trump. So what's your point?

Exactly what I said. Those are 2 issues that senators have nothing to do with.

Why is your opinion more important than his??

So senators don't decide laws that would affect the unborn or same-sexers?? Good to know.

Wasn't a vote for Moore. Was a vote against strange.

The is the epitome of Christian Conservatism and everything that is wrong with it. He is a corrupt hypocritical moron who had never done anything for voters. He used his position in government in an attempt to apply his personal mythology to citizen. He was removed from office.
Yet the morons in this state still vote for him.

LOL! This is how we got the moron in the white house. You vote for the ignorant, racist, homophobic dumbass because you don't like the other guy, who is way smarter and way more qualified.

A narcissistic imbecile who thinks not following the law somehow qualifies him to go off to Washington to make it.

Let's be honest, dude. You want to suck a dick, but are ashamed of your true feelings.
But it's 2017. Everyone now knows someone who is gay, and have realized they're just people, like everyone else. You don't have to lie to yourself anymore. We'll still think of you the same way.

Good point, but we replaced the moron with someone really good
sure, I am worried that we may make another mistake in 7 years and get another moron, but we at least have a shot to save the country now

Who is this Roy Moore guy?
He was elected chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. He had a Ten Commandments display on the court grounds, and was removed from office for defying a federal court order to remove it.
Then, he was elected chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court AGAIN, and was removed from office AGAIN for defying the U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing same sex marriage and ordering Alabama officials not to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples.
He claims that Sharia Law is already in effect in Illinois and Indiana, that the 9/11 attacks were a punishment from God for America's "godlessness", and that Barack Obama is a muslim.
He claims homosexuality is "the same thing" as bestiality and "an act of sexual misconduct punishable as a crime in Alabama, a crime against nature, an inherent evil, and an act so heinous that it defies one’s ability to describe it."
He said a muslim congressman should not be allowed to be sworn in on the Quran, and equated it to allowing someone to be sworn in on "Mein Kampf" or "The Communist Manifesto".
He won the GOP primary for Senate in Alabama over a candidate who was endorsed by Trump. Although he was apparently too crazy for Donald Trump to endorse him in the primary, he is a pretty typical person from Alabama as evidenced by his overwhelming support. He is a cinch to win the general election over the Democratic nominee, former U.S. Attorney Doug Jones, so much so that the DNC is unlikely even to try to help Jones.
In office, he will be solid vote for the most extreme right wing proposals, though it's unclear what he'll do on compromise bills that don't go far enough for him. He'll likely be very popular on the news talk show circuit, especially the left-leaning ones, who will no doubt try to portray his insanity as the true face of the GOP, although I don't think that'll be much of a stretch given current conditions.

Watch the movie "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington". Then imagine Bruce Dern as Mr. Smith with a huge Christ complex and a Rudolph Hess haircut.

I'm sorry, I am not capable of pulling the lever for someone with a "D" beside their name. If you're a Democrat, you have to support the DNC and the platform.
Have you seen Doug Jones' commercials? He's trying to portray himself as a moderate, who's disappointed with both parties. Heck, he doesn't even mention he's a Democrat, and the word Democrat doesn't even appear in print anywhere in his ads; not even the letter "D" next to his name.
A vote for Jones is a vote for the neo-prog party, and their agenda; he'll vote lock-step with them.
Refraining from voting is a vote for the prog agenda.
As much as I wish I had a better choice, I'll hold my nose and vote for Moore.

This is truly a case where the primary machinations - for good or bad - has resulted in a situation where Alabama voters like me have a choice of "bad" and "even worse".
I would highly prefer to vote for "my guy" but he didn't make it through the primary system. That's a shame because even though he has the charisma of a concrete block, he does have a good work ethic, strong basis of voting along the lines I believe, and probably would have been an effective foil against the current ineffective Senate leadership.
But that didn't happen. So one has to look at what is left - is it appropriate to vote AGAINST a candidate to deny the other party power? Of course it is, don't let anyone ever tell you differently. I take the philosophy of trying my best to elect my guy. But if that doesn't work out, I then support the LEAST WORST ELECTABLE CANDIDATE.
Unfortunately, too many voters in this situation just stay at home and decide not to vote at all. I am here to tell you right here, right now, that NOT VOTING is one of the worst things you can do. Reference what happened in the presidential elections of 2008 and 2012 - regardless of who you were for, that president was ultimately elected because a highly social conservative voting block... simply stayed home - no matter what the underlying reason was.
My suggestions for Alabama voters include the following:
1. There is no perfect candidate. Pick your top three or four major issues, and research about where the candidates left stand on these issues. Not what they say, but what they do and have done regarding those issues. Don't let any single issue derail you from a candidate.
2. Research their beliefs and how they align themselves nationally with their party. Will they vote in lockstep with the national party, or the Alabamians that elected them for representation?
3. If you consider "potential", you must also consider "starting point". You might think one candidate is smarter, more flexible, and more willing to change. But if that person is starting from such a low point on his belief structure compared to your own... but will some minor or moderate changes really mean that much? Don't believe claims of how they say they will act, go on the record.
4. Disregard national opinion. YOU are the voter here, not a talk show radio host in New York City or news anchor in Atlanta. This is YOUR state, and you are voting for YOUR representative, not for someone to look good in other locales.
5. Remember that if you vote for the same old type of representative for DC, you're gonna most likely get the same old results.
6. Don't stay at home on voting day. Use the info you developed above and actually go to the polling place. YOUR participation is a must to ever see any effective changes.
JMHO.
