I don't want my timeline cluttered up with a bunch of crap from people I don't know.

For us old fogies, FB is a great way to reconnect with good friends not seen in decades.

Some dude suggested a friend. It was someone I've never met. What? I want my FB limited to someone I either partied with or engaged in coitus or at least was a relative to someone I engaged in coitus with.

I only add randoms if there's a chance of Spring Break bikini pics.

I'm a lot more selective than that. I try to keep my friends list under 30 (currently holding steady at 28). If I want the rest of the world to know something, I'll just post it on my wife's page with her 3 trillion 'friends'.

Only times I've added folks I haven't met irl have been some of my wife's friends (who I usually end up meeting anyway eventually).

I limit it to people I actually have some sort of relationship and care to keep in touch in some way. I have less than 100 .

Dropped facebook couple years ago when the pictures transitioned from bikinis to babies.

I need to get rid of a lot of over accumulated random FB people. There are some I have met before but they can be really annoying with their posting.
The ones who use FB to proclaim their undying love to somebody they just met, even when they're together they are using FB to validate their relationship until they breakup and makeup again which never ends really. I often wonder if they ever feel embarrassed by all this. I'm starting to believe FB is for people with boring lives who need it to feel relevant. Just an opinion, not hating on those who enjoy it.

Nah, I'm definitely with you on that count. One of my little brothers in particular is bad about that. And then the inevitable fb picture purge after one of his breakups is just silliness. Funny thing is my wife and I are still friends with a couple of his exes lol.

I love facebook, but for different reasons. Mainly for keeping up with military/college friends or promoting my favorite sports teams or my podcast. Just try to keep it lighthearted. Some people take it way too seriously or over-document their lives, IMO.

Btw, nice to e-meet you! If I haven't welcomed you already, that is

My Facebook friends list was huge from college. That being said it was always only people I had met irl.

Now I have so many "junk" friends on there I have started a new thing. I delete at least 1-3 friends from my Facebook each time I login. That being said I only login like twice a week if that. But yes I would suggest doing to "delete one friend a day" method.

I'm a horrible person because I unfriend people when their birthday notification pops up if I don't remember/recognize them

Lol I have to meet them a hell of a lot more than once. My facebook has personal stuff on it and I have a public image to protect. The few people I'm friends with on facebook are all at least somewhat close to me.

Dude, that's brilliant. I always tell myself that I need to trim the fat, but then I get stoned and decide that the effort isn't worth it. This would work tremendously.

Yeah, I started doing that because I always make it a point to send bday wishes, but when random people I couldn't even remember why I added them or people I hadn't talked to since college started popping up, I started culling them one by one.
