while we're all froze in, i'd like to pick your brains.

i.e. i'm a conservative Christian but think gays should marry and we should legalize pot. i think both aren't inherently "good things" but don't believe my opinion should be inflicted on them.

on the otherhand, i'm also a libertarian in most things, in that, i think the government should have as little say as humanly possible in just about all regards, but am vehemently opposed to abortion in just about "all" circumstances.

these two conflict with my overall stances i take on most issues

I am human and want our species to live on. But any time i look outside this mind set of survival and think of how all of the world of nature works together and how terribly outside this woven quilt humans work. How rough humans are on this planet and how much we change and devastate it. We are just too over populated and are ruining this earth for every other species.

So my fight for survival clashes with my brain that tells me the earth and every other species would benefit if we no longer were here.

Why do you consider these two mutually exclusive?

I'm all for the preservation of human life, but some people just shouldn't be allowed to breed.

Always funny to look at all the tar and toxins in cigarettes and realize that the government deems them acceptable for sell from a health since yet naturally grown marijuana plants would get you put in jail. There are a lot of people who would understand the nature of the government better by thinking through these processes and using logic.

quote:

Ammonia: Household cleaner
Angelica root extract: Known to cause cancer in animals
Arsenic: Used in rat poisons
Benzene: Used in making dyes, synthetic rubber
Butane: Gas; used in lighter fluid
Carbon monoxide: Poisonous gas
Cadmium: Used in batteries
Cyanide: Deadly poison
DDT: A banned insecticide
Ethyl Furoate: Causes liver damage in animals
Lead: Poisonous in high doses
Formaldehiyde: Used to preserve dead specimens
Methoprene: Insecticide
Megastigmatrienone: Chemical naturally found in grapefruit juice
Maltitol: Sweetener for diabetics
Napthalene: Ingredient in mothballs
Methyl isocyanate: Its accidental release killed 2000 people in Bhopal, India in 1984
Polonium: Cancer-causing radioactive element

Those don't sound hypocritical, just that those views probably don't mesh with the majority of that grouping.

This is definitely viewed by hypocritical by many, but the argument against it is always a red herring. An anti-abortion law would be protecting a 3rd party.

Smoking any substance is bad for your health, dickwad.

Weed can cause just as much damage to your lungs etc.

Smoking is for stupid people.

i actually don't drink cokes at all.

a better argument might be, "what is my favorite beer?" and i think the same argument you were aiming for applies to that and i'd give it credence.

the big difference is that drugs currently against the law in my state and my beliefs would say that i should try to follow the law, so i do.

Ah, so cigarettes are illegal then??? If they are legal you pointing this out has nothing to do with the point of my post. You always respond with the most dumb arse comments.
