Chameleons, an evolution wonder.

skin color

quote:

Some chameleon species are able to change their skin coloration. Different chameleon species are able to vary their colouration and pattern through combinations of pink, blue, red, orange, green, black, brown, light blue, yellow, turquoise, and purple.[13] Chameleon skin has a superficial layer which contains pigments, and under the layer are cells with guanine crystals. Chameleons change color by changing the space between the guanine crystals, which changes the wavelength of light reflected off the crystals which changes the color of the chameleon' skin.

feet

quote:

e toes in each fascicle are bound into a flattened group of either two or three, giving each foot a tongs-like appearance...These specialized feet allow chameleons to grip tightly onto narrow or rough branches.

tail

quote:

Many people don’t know that the Chameleon is equipped with a prehensile tail. This allows them to grab things and to hold onto items with the tail.

eyes

quote:

Chameleons have the most distinctive eyes of any reptile. The upper and lower eyelids are joined, with only a pinhole large enough for the pupil to see through. Each eye can pivot and focus independently, allowing the chameleon to observe two different objects simultaneously. This gives them a full 360-degree arc of vision around their bodies. Prey is located using monocular depth perception, not stereopsis.

Chameleons can see in both visible and ultraviolet light

tongue

quote:

feed by ballistically projecting their long tongues from their mouths to capture prey located some distance away.[27] While the chameleons' tongues are typically thought to be one and a half to two times the length of their bodies

The saltwater crocodile. One of earth's last true monsters, it regularly feasts on humans.

You used the MK1 gif when he was a mysterious hidden character at the bottom of the pit. Did you do that on purpose? :tips hat:

Saw this video on a nature show of a tiger attacking a croc. I know that its a smaller species than the Australian saltie but still an impressive feat for a land predator. And something neat to see.

I can't just pick one, lol. I'm a reptile fanatic.

Here's a quick vid of me at the local reptile convention last year.
