This may be the douche-iest thread ever created on this board.

I think Rene was still playing when I was a teenager and had not gotten into merchandise yet.

Correct answers are Ralph Lauren, lacoste, or poverty.

I laid it out in the OP by calling myself a douche BRO, just funny to look back on certain things.

Bet you wore camo cargo shorts halfway down the shin with an XXL airbrushed T-Shirt of Dale Jr. on it.

I have only worn RL polos my whole life. All of these:

quote:

Aeropostale
Abercrombie & Fitch
American Eagle
Old Navy
Hollister

Were for losers when I was in HS and I wouldn't be caught dead in one. These:

quote:

Vineyard Vines
Southern Shirt Co.
Southern Proper

Did not exist so they are irrelevant.

Brooks Brothers was a fancy older-person brand so was not applicable and Lacoste was just as fratty as RL but I refused to wear an an alligator on my shirt.

So there ya go. I still only wear RL polos to this day.

I'm gonna state the obvious, a polo is any short sleeved collared shirt, not just Ralph Lauren.

It is more than just that….

Needs to be 100% cotton
Needs to have a longer back than front
Needs to be a sport shirt for golf and tennis
Needs to be 2 or 3 button, not full button front

Clearly these are short sleeved shirts with collars and nobody is going to call them a polo

PS, the best polos had no logos and were worn with pride by folks who felt no need to wear a label to be cool. As FYI, Brooks Brothers had the "golden fleece" polo but they also used to sell a plain polo with no logo for about a 1/3 of the price. Not sure I could tell the difference in quality or wear and that kind of savings meant you could buy more shirts.

In my late teens, America was in that window when Hilfiger was the tits, and just before it went ghetto.

Weird topic, but I'll bite. I had a black Ralph Lauren polo that I wore as much as I could get away with. Looked great with about anything.

Anybody here use the Poshmark app? Lot of Polos, Southern Marsh, Vineyard Vines, Under Armour, Carhartt, etc for sale for extremely cheap( 30 or less.) Many with tags still on them! Good reviews as well.

All we had in the 80's were Ralph Lauren and Izod(the OG Lacoste) I think. Those are at least the only ones I remember

This, sadly still my favorite when I can find them.
