I listened to the Commodores, EWF, Beatles, and some southern rock with my mom (single mother)

Grandparents listened to Glenn Miller or Elvis (listed them since helped raise me)

Country until I was about 7. Classic Rock after that. I hate country now and refuse to listen to it.

Why may I ask? I don't listen to country much either. But I'll listen to Strait or Jackson.

Journey, CCR, a bunch Otis Redding types, and old school country.

I just can't stand it. Don't like the vocals nor the music.

A lot of Motown stuff when I was a kid. I grew up hearing a lot of Temptations, Commodores, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Four Tops, Gladys Knight, Smokey and Stevie. When I got into my teens, my parents let me listen to what I wanted and now I gravitate back towards the old Motown stuff.

The only type of music that makes me immediately turn off is the disco era music. I don't know but the Bee Gees, ABBA, Air Supply types make me cringe.

I grew up listening to the Beatles, Birds, and whatever else was on the radio in the 60's. I remember my parents had a lot of stuff on vinyl in the 70's including Jim Croce, Jimmy Buffet, Linda Rondstadt, Waylon, Kenny Rogers, Olivia Newton John, Elvis, stuff like that.

By the 70's I was full on Stones, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Rush, REO Speedwagon, Styx, America, Boz Skaggs, Grand Funk Railroad, 3 Dog Night, the Who, Yes, Heart, Kansas, etc. The heart of what is now considered classic rock.

Oldies, doo wop, soul

Hey dad....

I also just recently talked me dad into parting with his old linn sondek lp12 table. I've coveted this player since I was in junior high.

Fleet wood Mac- seemed Rumors played non stop for two years

Queen- I remember being mesmerized by the album cover of News of The World as a young boy. The inside art where the giant robot had the people in its hand was scary to me.

Bob Seger albums

Eagles

Elvis - at least ten albums

Bee Gees-mom loved the Gibbs

Motown - a lot of Smokey Robinson, Gaye, Jackie Wilson, etc.

Beach Shag albums- mom and dad shag danced in our house a lot on weekends. They were holding on to the late 50s memories of Daytona and Mrytle Beach trips when shag dancing was the thing.

Beach Boys

Marty Robbins

Willie Nelson

Waylon Jennings

Conway Twitty

Faron Young

Duke Ellington

John Coltrane

Tommy Dorsey

James Brown

And much more

They loved music and had very diverse taste. Definitely influenced me as I love good music from any genre. Luckily, I inherited over 300 albums when mom died in 96.

The soothing sounds of Rush Lembaugh and G Gordon Liddy.

I grew up to be conservative, but hate my dad's brand of republicanism.

But literally, talk radio was it. No music till I had my own truck.
