What makes James Bond a great character?

Every Bond movie is great and Bond never gets old. What exactly is it that makes Commander Bond so great?
His smart arse comments?
His ability to get the girl?
He's not perfect?
His intelligence?
His disregard for authority?
His cool toys?
His sense of justice?
It's easy to say all but usually most have one that stands out. I say it's they show flaws and he overcomes them.

He's a spy/secret agent -> cool
He can shoot -> cool
He can fight -> cool
Drives awesome cars -> cool
Basically all that makes him a pretty sweet character.

He's posh. He embodies the "GQ" look. He is handsome. He has sex with foreign women. He makes hilarious puns after murdering his fellow man. He has awesome gadgets.

Man it was always the cool gadgets he got from Q. My dad and I would watch them and I used to think that shite was the coolest shite ever as a kid.

Pretty much this. He is one of my favorite characters. He also gets to travel the worlds most exotic places on the government dime.

In truth, I havent watched a James Bond movie since Roger Moore was Bond. eons ago. I always thought Pierce Brosnan had a case of the ghey and I just dont like Daniel Craig. Now if they ever make a movie about Vlad Putin, I think Craig is his spittin' image.
