Skipping LA cuisine in attempt to not be that guy, so I'd say fried chicken has earned it's spot

Fried catfish
Hush puppies come to mind as well

Crawfish is certainly a southern thing

Grits for sure

Also, greens belong on that list IMO. If side items are allowed that is.

Arky fans will try to tell you that chocolate gravy counts.

It doesn't.

Wild caught catfish. Sliced super thin and then fried crispy so it curls.

Pink eyed purple hull peas with spicy pepper vinegar

Smashed new potatoes with the skin on

Corn bread

Plate of sliced tomatoes with salt and pepper

Wild picked blackberry cobbler with Blue Bell ice cream

A blond in Daisy Dukes sitting on a porch swing

Action

White russet potatoes from Idaho don't allow me to embrace as a Southern food.

In my book, in order to qualify, I need to be able to leave the house in boots, carrying a pistol, fishing rod, and a 5-gallon bucket. And then reurn an hour later will all main ingredients in the bucket.

A trip to walmart is a disqualification (except for spices and condiments).
