Great driving song but a little confusing. Are we talking about something other than anal here?

One of the biggest misconceptions. He plainly says what he won't do in the song

quote:

And I would do anything for love, I'd run right into hell and back
I would do anything for love, I'll never lie to you and that's a fact
But I'll never forget the way you feel right now, oh no, no way
And I would do anything for love, but I won't do that, I won't do that

....

But I'll never forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight
And I would do anything for love, oh I would do anything for love
Oh I would do anything for love, but I won't do that, no I won't do that

It was commitment. She wanted him to commit his whole life to her. So, he did and he lived in hell for the rest of his life.

So there's been more than one thing Meatloaf wouldn't do for love this whole time? Son of a bitch.

Yeah. He's pretty up front about it.

Now, Phil Collins, on the other hand is kind of cryptic about who he's confronting and why when he feels it coming in the air tonight.

In a related yet slightly different tack...

William Shatner used to have a show on the Bio Chennel called Shatner's Raw Nerve. Just a 30 minute interview session that was unscripted. It really was quite personable, and excellent stuff.

One night, he interviewed Meatloaf. What a great interview! He talked about his home problems and his abusive father, how he got into music and RHPS, etc. Really really good stuff. Well worth your time to watch.

Shatner has three seasons of interviews (13 episodes each) with some really great stuff. His buffoonish TV ad personality does not at all match his personable interviews - it was not at all what I expected when I first stated watching. My favorites from Season 2 are: Rush Limbaugh, Meatloaf, Gene Simmons, Weird Al. Season 1: Fran Drescher, Kelsey Grammer, Tim Allen, Leonard Nimoy, Jon Voight, Drew Carey, Jenna Jameson. Season 3: Kevin Nealon, Walter Koenig, Florence Henderson, Marilu Henner. Each time, I learned something totally new and what I did not expect through the interviews.

Available online here: LINK but for a cost. Or here on itunes: LINK2

Some of the episodes are available on Youtube, a simple search will turn them up. Some of the interview segments and clips are very powerful, like this one where Gene Simmons talks about coming to America. Or how Drew Carey learned comedy. When Fran Drescher was raped when she came to Hollywood. The carbon monoxide death of Weird Al Yankovitch's parents.

Anyway, some unusual stuff. The Meatloaf interview is particularly fun and you will end up wishing it would have lasted a lot longer.

REO Speed Wagon: What feeling are they trying to fight? Because its about to win apparently.

Is it the feeling of trying to catch Moby Dick? Due to the fact that he's bringing his ship into the shore and throwing away the oars forever?

I just want to point out one last time how much bullshite this is.

Meatloaf first says "But I'll never forget the way you feel right now, oh no, no way
And I would do anything for love, but I won't do that."

Really, Meatloaf. You'll do anything but that? Would you... forgive yourself if y'all don't go all the way tonight? Cause if you wouldn't, you need to clarify that when you erroneously claimed you'd do anything except forget the way she feels right now.

It's got what it takes
So tell me why can't this be love
Straight from my heart oh tell me why
Can't this be love
I tell myself
Hey only fools rush in an only time will tell
If we stand the test of time
All I know
You've got to run to win an I'll be damned if
I'll get hung up on the line

THIS. It's explained in the song. But people that have a problem with it really should take it up with Jim Steinman, who is the actual writer of the song and has written hits such as "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "Making Love Out of Nothing at All" in addition to writing EVERY hit Meat ever had.
