Mine is simple...to make sure I don't treat my boy like I was treated by my father.
Sorry for the horrible title of thread. Also I use Confessions by St Augustine of Hippo and the Bible as motivators along with intrinsic motivation.

how do they ship it to you? Or is it shipped to a PO and you have to sign for it?
Nice win also.

Fear. Mostly of failure. I've calculated that at any given time, if I get divorced, lose my job, run out of savings, and my car dies, I'm 6 months from living under a bridge. I think about this on the drive home most days.

Failing doesn't bother me anymore after Katrina. I lost everything I ever owned and came back to something respectable.

I just try to do better everyday. I dont think any of us can use one things to motivate us. Thats more of a goal than any thing
I applaud you for trying to be a better father.. My wife uses this as well. Her parents were not great. Never took her anywhere or let her do things. So now, she overdoes it at times with our boys. I understand her reasoning though and only pull her in when she goes overboard. I was lucky and had good parents.
the only thing we can really do is to try and do better at what ever we do each and every day

i try to live my life in such a way that no person that comes in contact with me feels like i don't care about them. it's usually ignored, but there are some rare moments in life where the guy checking me out actually perks up that i care about how his day is going, i call my waiter by their name, i don't flip somebody off who made a mistake on the road, or that somebody appreciates me holding the door open and it actually mean something. 99% of it is just being polite or having common courtesy, but everybody deserves to be something more than a bit player in my day.
a lot of that is based on my christianity, but i just want people to know that somebody out there gives a shite about them.

Providing the best I can for my wife and myself. I'm not sure where I would be without her but I'm damn sure it would be a much worse place.

I have a lot of wrong to make right, I try and fix something from my past as often as possible, doesn't always go well but it must be done.

Remembering what it was like to flunk out of college and work at KFC as the "Head Cook".
I became said head cook in about 6 weeks because it was KFC and everyone that worked there was lazy as frick.
I remember them being pissed that I got a raise to $8 per hour.
I realized then that I had better figure something out quick because I was living in loser land.
Joined the Navy about 4 months later, never looked back.
