Want to cut cable tv cord, anyone here use Sling, Hulu, Youtube?

I'm speaking of the latest providers of ala carte style via the internet, live and on demand tv. Sling has the lowest price of $20/mo. for about 30 channels including ESPN along with on demand. YouTube and Hulu at about $35/39 per mo. Sort of a catch 22 though, because as good as the prices seem you will have to cough up for decent internet bandwidth; minimum $65/mo. if you are with Spectrum for example, but they give you 60 mbps. I've found that 60 meg is overkill for streaming regular youtube and other web videos, but unsure about streaming live tv from these services...fwiw I watch 1080 youtube all the time with only 4 mbps with about 5-10 second buffering, near instant at 720. But I may need more for the services above. Anyone here have user experiences with any of these?

I have Sling. Has all the ESPN channels and SEC network. No complaints here, I like not having a two year contract.

Thanks for feedback Hogwart. From reading their Q&A it sounds like they don't offer networks, and gotta have CBS for SEC games. I could get antenna for over the air I guess.
EDIT: just found this at Sling site, sounds like I have enough speed already, and they offer a free trial.
Constant speed of 3.0 Megabits per second or more - Streaming video content on portable devices such as, tablets and phones.
Constant speed of 5.0 Megabits per second or more - Single stream of video content on a TV, PC, or Mac.
Constant speed of 25 Megabits per second or more - Recommended for households who maintain Internet use on multiple devices.

If you have a Xbox you can use the Explorer app to watch movies on fmovies.to.
It's free and they have movies still in theater as well as every show you could imagine.
I say use your Xbox because I don't know how secure it is.
You'd probably get a virus if you used a computer.

I have Spectrum's internet at 60 mbps at $49.99/month. It's more than adequate for my selection of Amazon Prime, YouTube Red and Netflix. I'm so picky about what I watch that I realized I wasn't watching DirecTV so I dumped it. That was $120/month going to waste. I get my sports fix from WatchESPN and over-the-air channels.

We tried sling last year and it sucked. It would constantly do this thing where it would jump ~30 seconds back and then after a couple minutes it would jump back to the correct time. Very aggravating when you're trying to watch live sports.

I would love to get rid of xfinity. I pay over 200 bucks per month for 3 rooms plus phone and internet. I don't use the house phone anymore and I don't watch many channels. Problem is I don't know how to get high speed internet without them.

I have DirectvNow for $35 a month and it has over 100 channels to include HBO, ESPN, ESPN2, SEC Network, FS1, FS2. No contract and when I paid three months in advance they provided a free Appletv. Luckily I got in when they first started and the price is locked in for life. The drawback is that it does not carry local channels and it does not have a DVR function yet, but I have heard they are working on a DVR function. You can use the app to go back and watch old shows you missed. For local channels I use Tablo which allows me to watch live and to DVR local channels. It has an app that streams them to all my TVs, tablets, phones, etc. I would recommend spending a little more for the 4 channel vs 2 channel. I have one Appletv and the rest of my TVs use the Amazon Firestick. Appletv does not carry Amazon Prime, but luckily my DVD player on that TV has the app..

$49/mo, how do you get it that price? Promotion maybe? Or you have a combo package? $65 quote I gave was for stand alone internet, fwiw, thanks for reply.

So many options to pick from thanks. Basically as long as I end up with the channels I want plus internet fee for less than $90 I'll be okay with that.

It's the stand-alone price. Actually, it's $44.99 plus a $5/month modem "rental." No contract either. They currently have a $29.99/service for one year if you bundle but I didn't want cable or a landline. $90/month for that crap? No. And it would go up after 12 months. I like my setup because I can pick what I want to watch and when. I don't care for standard cable or satellite. Too much garbage.

I dropped spectrum and went with century link for my internet. 34.99 per month for 25mps. I have sling tv orange package with sports, kids, news and entertainment add ons for 34.99...$70 total instead of $170 through spectrum and i have all the channels that i want and then some. Bought a roku streaming stick and couldnt be happier so far. Was able to purchase mlb package for $87 instead of over $400 spectrum wanted as well. I'll never go back to cable or contracts again.

$35 for 25 mbps, that is a bargain, I'm paying right now that exact price for only 4 mbps from my grandfathered in Brighthouse price...if I want to bump up speed I have only one choice, 60 mbps for $65 with no wifi. My small town has a monopoly with cable is part of problem.

That's highway robbery. Have you checked out a satellite internet connection? I don't know much about it but it would seem worth the investigation.

I just called ATT and was told I qualified for 10 mbps at $40/mo., said they would install modem and setup at no extra charge, very interesting.

You can get just AT&T internet?

Are you sure there isn't other competition for ATT in your neighborhood? Sounds like they're afraid you're about to bolt. $40 for 10 mbps is still usurious. I'd dig if I were you.

Sling has been upgraded. When I first got it about a year and a half ago, it did the same thing. However, it has improved and this football season it was fantastic, especially for the fact that I don't have to pay $200/month to DirectTV for a bunch of crap I don't need just to watch sports and HBO. Plus, after football season, I can turn off ESPN and turn back on HBO, and visa versa.
Between Apple TV, Sling and an HD Antenna, I'm much happier than I was with Direct TV, and I save about $150 per month, or more.
