I am planning on booking a beach camping trip in August on the South Carolina or Georgia coast and Hunting Island State Park caught my eye. Any recommendations on cool beach camping spots, specifically Hunting Island?

SC coast can kick Georgia coast's arse

That's my only contribution to this thread. Hope you have a good time whatever you do

I absolutely love Hunting Island, but please make sure to bring a mosquito zapper. The mosquitoes are pretty terrible at Hunting Island, but as long as you're equipped with a zapper, you'll be just fine!

Hunting Island is great .... maybe it'll be cooled-down by August.

Bugs can be bad - but that's pretty much anywhere in the deep south in the summer.

We've got lots of islands, coastal and inland, to choose from.

I staid a week at Hunting Island State Park in April. The bugs were not bad in April, but I hear they get worse in the Summer. I loved it. The kids had a good time feeding apples and carrots to the deer. The sand is hard packed and you can ride your bikes on the beach. I would go again.
