Tuscaloosa is a shite hole

I had to drive through Tuscaloosa today. It's an absolute shite hole. I 20 is a disaster. All kinds of trash hanging out in broad daylight. Am I missing something? The roads suck worse than Louisiana. Baton Rouge is like 3 time the city as that 3rd world country. Disgusting place. Stopped to use the bathroom and there was a huge nasty bloody booger that someone had flung on the wall. My wife refused to get out of the car until I got back in. Such a tragedy

Not sure what happened when you passed through, but it's always been a solid college town the 4 times I've been there.

I've been to Baton Rouge many many times. It is far more beautiful than Tuscaloosa. WTF is up with the 55mph speed limit on a 3 lane interstate?

I'm looking for an exit with multiple restaurants and gas stations, always safer and cleaner...
Side note, I refuse to stop anywhere between Six Flags and Midtown when I drive into Atlanta on I 20 and up the 75/85 connector
My wife stopped with the kids once just past 285 on I 20 before she hit the connector north - told me that now she understands why I never let us stop there before...

They're doing road work on I-20/59. We can actually afford to do road work, unlike the poors in Louisiana.

They are doing road work all over Tuscaloosa. So it's going to be a mess for a while. But Birmingham is going through the same thing.
You have to actually go on I359 or McFarland North to see Tuscaloosa or the University of Alabama.

All I saw was construction cones off the side of the road and a few pieces of construction equipment parked under the trees. It looked well intended but ineffective, sort of like that bama defense for this year.
