Just curious.
With all of the distractions eating up the 24/7 news cycle; false-flag church shooting, MLB hacking incident, the daily political soap opera and so on.
How many of you are aware of the TPP?
And how many of you feel like you have a good understanding of its scope and what it entails?

Clearly you have strong feelings on the partnership. Why don't you share?

How could I? To my knowledge, the actual text of the treaty has yet to be released.

You have to pass it to know what's in it.

I don't know much about it but everyone in DC is pretty excited about it. So I'm pretty sure I'll hate everything in it.

I once had a suicidal professor when I was studying, and in all reality I loved the guy. He was cheerful enough most of the times I saw him, always greeted me with a smile and asked me to sit at the front of the class -- I thought differently, and he valued that. Each day, though, I could see him starting to slip more and more into depression. You see, living near a military base, you tend to lose a lot of friends -- deployments, PCS or even, unfortunately, death.
One of his students' wasn't going to come back, and it hit him pretty hard. She was gifted intellectually and was probably going to do something with her life until the trumpets of war dragged her away, never to return again. Mr. Hudson (as I always called him) was never the same when she passed on, everything had changed. He started to talk to me about how in the end, he just cared too much about people.
He told me one day while we were sitting on a bench on campus that he was just looking for reasons to live, teaching wasn't providing the spark it once did.
He then told me that he had just taken a large amount of pills, and he was certain that at any moment he would slip off into the next phase of life if there should be one.
I remember sitting on that bench and watching him start to slump in his seat, his hand reached out and I took it uneasily, I had never watched anyone die before and I didn't want to see it happen to him. He was my mentor, I could have easily called him my father considering all he had done for me.
I looked into his eyes, frantically considering if I should call emergency services as my free hand searched for my cellphone.
He looked back at me with misted eyes, I could see that he was struggling deeply.
With all the pain, misery and longing, he uttered his final words and breath.
''Jet fuel can't melt steel beams...''

First of all, Straws...
Been following it for a while.
Considering we need the TPA and the TAA passed before the proposal is available to read, I obviously don't. Come back when the proposal is posted for everyone to see what's in it.

It's true we don't know exactly what's in it, and if it's fast tracked I believe that means it will remain unseeable for the next 4 years.
But we do know plenty about it through leaks.
The link from Echoes above hits all the main points.
Give it a look, if you'd like.

I ignore most current events. I have way too much information in my life. Need to save room for r/wtf.

Nah, once the agreement is set in stone it will be posted for 60 days for anyone who wants to read it to do so. Then it comes up for a vote in congress. The point of the fast track is to keep congress from attaching amendments to it and getting it to the floor in a timely fashion. The fast track does give the POTUS six years or something like that to work all trade proposals like what is described above.

Typical anti-trade language is what I got out of it. There's some degree of truth to his points I'm certain, but I want to see the whole thing before I go making judgements.
