See I'm opposite. I feel more comfortable in person approaching someone and don't have an air of desperation about me. Mostly because my personality tends to get along with people easily and I'm confident my mannerisms won't come across as desperate or creepy.

I feel desperate when I message on tinder and have a hard time making interesting conversation on there when I can't feel the person out.

The overwhelming consensus is slamming shouldn't be allowed in competition. Period. That isn't debatable.

Slamming is not a bjj skill, which is why it's not rewarded in competition and shouldn't be a part of pure bjj events. The entire point of isolating bjj in competition is to focus entirely on the skill aspect. It's not about who can inflict the most damage on the other person -- there are plenty of other outlets for that.

There are nuances to the debate. Of course high level ppl may welcome a slam attempt because they know how to safely defend, while low level people do not. There is some reason to allow it in certain types of events, mostly non-gi. But in pure bjj it has no place and the consensus is you're a douche and an idiot if you think it should.

Not going to rehash a debate that you got absolutely shite-canned in months ago just so you an have another shot at redeeming yourself to passing eyes on this board.

The mere fact you think this has anything to do with toughness tells it all.

Somebody held a grievance for months over being embarrassed in a thread he started about it and wanted redemntion -- that'd be my guess.

On topic though, I've always been curious how Tinder and social media played into the dating scene. It's pretty cool reading through this thread and seeing how much has changed. If I were single, I'd probably give it a try.
