I'm stuck in Columbia, Mo for the day. Does anyone have recommendations for places to eat, shop, cool things to go see? I have a car so could do short driving trip.

TIA

Honestly theres not much Sightseeing, its a town that's great for drinking, which sucks bc you're driving.

MUST WALK AROUND THE CAMPUS, you wont be disappointed.

Eating-
1) Flat Branch
2) Shakespeare pizza
3) Booches

Tons of shops in the downtown but mainly for the fine women you'll see.

As far as seeing things, driving to Jeff City might be the only thing worth it. only like 30 minutes away. Capital city that sits on the river with nearby cliffs with winery's on top.

Like I said, the town is meant for drinking.

I'm currently rallying Mizzou fans to post as much info as possible. You'll be surprised by Columbia's downtown and Mizzou's campus. I encourage you to visit both the downtown and campus.

Thank you for the prompt replies. I'm a married female, so I'm not scoping out the local talent.

The river and winery sounds good, and not too far south of here.

Also look into catching a meal at "The Broadway", its a Hilton Hotel located Downtown with a nice up-beat bar and restaurant on the roof.

If you have the time, I HIGHLY encourage you to visit Les Bourgeois Vineyards in Rocheport, MO (15 minutes from Columbia off I-70 Hwy).

It's a beautiful winery which sits on the Missouri River bluffs. The high 180 degree bluff view of the river and countryside below is breathtaking. This place will give you a hint of why Missourians love Missouri.

Our state is beautiful.

Have fun!

I would recommend it to people traveling in the area. Wine is ok, roughly what to expect from local growing region, and food was good. The view over the river is nice, but will be beautiful when the leaves are changing. Down along the gulf we don't get those views.

The winery is very nice. Glad you enjoyed it. There is better wine in Missouri, but their's isn't too bad.

Check out the downtown area, there are lots of little shops and art galleries. Orr Street Studio is very cool. Look at Blue Stem for local artisans. Great coffee shops too. Definitely walk around the campus, it's beautiful.

Missed Blue Stem; it was recommended after but I didn't have enough time. I'm at a place in Fulton now, Beks, right up from Westminster College. Lots of microbrews and the owner is great.
