I keep hearing this bullshite line from people trying to justify illegal immigration or make it seem like it's not such a bad thing. But what are these jobs Americans won't do, and who did them before illegal immigrants?

I believe that if you are a business owner willing to pay a market wage instead of leveraging cheaper labor, there will always be a citizen willing to take on that job.

So what are all these jobs Americans won't do, and how do they get done where there is no cheap labor to do it?

Americans did these jobs before, at a realistic living wage, and would still do them at a realistic living wage.

Oh, Americans will build it,if you are willing to pay reasonable labor rates.

I know plenty who do that type of work, but they don't work for immigrant pay rates.

Which is probably still a deflated wage due to the market being saturated with cheap labor.

In a word, "Agriculture".

Go read up on how many millions Georgia farmers lost a few years back when our idiot governor decided to crack down on migrant labor.

They tried to subsidize that absence with a jobs program for paroled felons, but even those folks rarely lasted beyond a week down there in South Georgia picking fruit and vegetables. If you've ever spent a day harvesting, you'd know why.

And if you read Grapes of Wrath you probably know that "Americans" did do those jobs throughout the depression, but post-WWII Americans didn't need that work anymore and migrants were happily recruited to fill the gap and they've been at it ever since, many for generations.

So, if you want to eat, get over it. They are, in fact, doing work Americans don't want to do.

This is the heart of the illegal alien invasion problem. They are simply undercutting American workers who would do the jobs for decent pay. In effect, they are being sponsored by contractors and others who want to maximize their profits.

Me and My Uncle were talking the other day, in the late 60s and early 70s, he worked pumping gas,was able to buy a new muscle car almost every year, and bought his first small house while still at that job.

In about 73 or 74, the first Mexican went to work at the local cotton gin, and it was downhill since for American Workers.

The problem i have had working Americans they have too many problems, no driver license wife has to drive them
to work, coming into work smelling like a brewery when they do show up, most of the time 30 mints. to 2 hrs. late but the worse i have found they just show up for a paycheck, had a couple of guys that have been in house framing for 20 years and still couldn't layout a
wall if it had a window or door in it. and if they had to work an hour or two over
they would cry like a baby.

So in short all i work now are Mexicans i sub out the work to them same price i would an American crew
the thing is American crew will take 2-3 three weeks
to frame and black in a 3500 ft house a Mexican crew
1 week. They are there from sunup to sundown.

The skilled American Professional Carpenters have been low balled out of the framing business, what is basically left,is guys who can't do any job at all.

Skilled guys are doing only trim work, stairways, and detail work now.

If you can find someone to do the job for just as good or better for cheaper, then I say, "Go for it." That's just good business.

It's called a bubble. You shouldn't be able to afford those things while working a job that a monkey could do.

better and cheaper might look fine for now, but you find out down the road,it wasn't really better or cheaper.

A person under 35 years old hasn't even started to understand the meaning of this.

same here and same industry. I just had to let a guy go because he has been late 14 times in the last two months and then he and his brother whined and cried about giving him just one more chance.

In general, I pay better than nearly all of the contractors around here yet can't find help that is pseudo competent for the most part. The ones that will work, don't have a driver's license or have so many issues that they can't get on company insurance. The ones that will work are too dumb to move up the ladder.

So you are saying: immigrants = monkeys ?

They just work cheap, you don't have to call them animals.

Are immigrants pumping gas? I haven't seen someone do that since the 90's.
