I'm considering moving to Tampa from Nashville . Anyone live in or close to Tampa? Pros? Cons? TIA!

I will possibly be living in Zephyrhills.

One of my best friends from college lives there with her family. They absolutely love it, and will never move back to Missouri, even though their families are here. I've visited several times, and I think I'd like to live there.

I've been numerous times as well. Been traveling back and forth for a couple years (woman) but considering going for good. I love Nashville (from upstate NY originally) but the year round warm weather is appealing

I lived in Tampa and St.Petersburg back in 1992-1994 near the Gandy bridge. I LOVED it and I felt like I was living in a paradise back then but that was 20 years ago when I was a little kid.

I have the same question as op. Is Tampa a good place to live nowadays? I'm considering moving back to Tampa after all these years.

if you don't mind living among transplanted New Yorkers, it's a nice place and nice weather, sans a few hurricane threats from time to time.

I've been in Tampa since last October. I work all over south FL and this is by far my favorite city. I live in south Tampa. Zeph would be a good choice if you like being close enough to enjoy the city without the everyday traffic. I would recommend Riverview and Apollo Beach as well.

The people that hate on central Florida have only been to International Drive and don't know what the frick they're talking about. It's actually a pretty cool area. Especially if you're into anything involving water.

My dad lives in the area you are talking about. He likes it. Major con is the traffic is god awful. When I was there this summer it seemed like they were working on every road.

I remember hearing that it leads the nation in number of people struck by lightning each year, so there's that to consider.

My mom and stepdad just moved from Zephyrhills to Dade City. They prefer where they've moved to because there are so many trailer parks full of 60 year old yankees and snowbirds around where they were in Zephyrhills. Granted you'll find that most places in Florida, but there really are a ton of them in Zephyrhills.

It's no doubt a nice area, just some stereotypical south Florida characteristics to it.

having lived in both, I agree.... I actually moved from Clearwater to Nashville about 10 months ago. We didn't care for the tampa area, epsecially pinellas county... over-crowded, full of transplants from the northeast... just not an ideal place for us.

The winter is nice though... can't beat 70s in january.

Tampa is a great city. I would only live in South Tampa though. You are insulated from most of the traffic there and are close to the airport.

South Tampa is really nice with lots to do.

Pros - amazing food/restaurants, water, fishing, weather, Latinas, sports, music, entertainment, skrippers, etc

Cons - traffic, yankees, ghetto youth running around wild

Grew up in Tampa, I'd consider moving slightly south of Tampa if I were you. Like Ellenton, Bradenton, St.Pete. Cost of living is lower, still have access to all the cool stuff without the crazy traffic.
