The Hell with the University of South Carolina!! The same ppl that say that the Confederate Battle flag represents oppression and slavery are the same ppl that came that the United States flag is a sign of imperialism and colonialism!!! They just want to complains about something...

quote:

Removing the confederate flag is not going to prevent something like this from ever happening again! The flag is not corrupt! The young man was!

quote:

Quit oppressing southern people. I'm tired of you taking our rights away while you're letting everybody else do what they want to. That's a flag for tradition and heritage, not racism. Black people died for that flag also.

quote:

So rioters in Baltimore can burn the American flag and it's ok but it's now becoming a crime to showcase the Confederate flag??? This is why this country is going to hell, it's filled with morons!!!

quote:

The flag is our heritage. White people r dumb

quote:

They should remove the USC President before the Confederate flag .That flag means more to southerners that he could ever no ...

quote:

Oh yes, be sure to do that to appease a small number of people, and don't worry about the majority of people that look on the "Stars and Bars" as a symbol of regional pride and protest against the abuse of power by the Federal government!

quote:

Kick South Carolina out of the S.E.C!!

quote:

Cool. Is USC dropping the Gamecocks name which glorifies cock fighting. How can you ban that brutal sport and expect people to understand it is wrong when you profit off its name?

quote:

SDS, you're preaching to the wrong crowd with this article. Most of us who follow you aren't naive enough to think a flag is the issue with this incident or our country. We also aren't naive to consider this at all shocking considered how liberal universities tend to be.

quote:

Do the realize the GameCock is the mascot of the Nazi and KKK

quote:

Your just scared of losing black athletes !

good point there ^

quote:

Well I guess USC can't get attention with their football program any more they might as well jump on the anti-confederate flag bandwagon to get attention.... smh.

That's pretty tame compared to the Poli Board. Their suspenders are on very tight today.

I would never fly a confederate flag, nor do I own anything with a confederate flag on it.

That said, if Yankees hate us so much down here, you'd think they wouldn't insist on making us part of their country. fricking imperialists.

Well, who's going to desecrate their state house every other year, though?

Gotta think about these things, bruh.

We should just let South Carolina secede. See how they like fending for themselves instead of getting subsidized by the U.S. government.

Its South Carolina's business. Period.

What makes me uncomfortable is the duality of the most vocal groups, while shouting for that flag to be taken down or condemning others for flying or displaying the confederate flag remain completely silent or supportive of the U.S flag being burned, stomped on and disgraced. Freedom of speech and expression seem to have conditions that are set at the whims of progressive liberal groups and that should be very uncomfortable for everyone.

My favorite quote.

People are acting like USC flies the flag on the Horseshoe or something.

I went to high school in New England, and while there are things I like about the region I will always loathe the Pilgrim culture that lingers there. Northerners may have lost their religion, but they have lost little of that Puritan ethos. They're still trying to build the city on a hill - that community of the upright.

It would be one thing if they kept building their more perfect society in isolation, unfortunately they keep on trying to impose it on the rest of us.

Find me a link where the NAACP condemns burning the american flag by protesters?

Do I really need to find a link where people are called out by the NAACP for displaying the confederate flag?

Im not saying one is right or the other is wrong. Not making a moral judgment here just pointing out the hypocrisy of free speech is good in one circumstance and not the other.

Meanwhile Westboro baptist church can practice their brand of hate as free speech.

Folks cant have it both ways.

You're probably correct on the hypocrisy of groups that aren't outspoken on the us flag being burned, but there's a big difference between a private citizen doing something (burning a flag, flying the stars and bars, etc.) and a government entity doing something like flying the stars and bars.

I'd support South Carolina removing the emblem from government properties, but I'd extremely oppose any effort to limit private ownership/display of the flag. Hopefully that makes sense.
