SNL just ended the season with a song lampooning Fayetteville, pseudo-southern old white ppl hippie culture.

Kinda funny, and kinda....accurate.

My jaw was on the floor, that was so awesome. I was like holy shite, they're singing about Fayetteille on SNL (!) and I'm here right now. I'm still giddy about it.

Very accurate. They essentially nailed the music scene here. Fayetteville is as boring as they are alluding it to be.

The the riff was more on 70s Southern Rock bands and drawn out songs.

But if there was a SNL skit about Happy Hour at George's Majestic Lounge, that would have been it. Holy shite. Or any weekend in Eureka Springs, ever.

I think there's more behind it than just them picking a random "southern" town to sing a song about. There's an inside joke there.

I bet one of the bands will cover the song today. I'll be there. It's a beautiful day! Somebody post vids of the zip-line!

Well, the 70s teens, won't-grow-up and we're still "groovy man" old fricks are the ones holding it back, IMO.

I think the music scene here is pretty great, but I like folk, Americana, etc.

It was meant to be funny. It was funny. I live in Fayetteville and know we don't have "honky tonks". Never really have, because we're a college town and not really all that "country". It is still a funny little jab, and the use of old hippies and mediocre mellow Southern rock, well...it fits a certain segment of the population here to a T. Fayetteville is pretty laid back and doesn't take itself too seriously. Live and let live. One of the reasons its a great place to live.
