If so:

What age were you when they seperated?
Did it have a big effect on you?
How often did/do you see each parent?
Did you have friends whose parents divorced as well?
Would you change it if you could?

Yes my parents were divorced. Happened when I was 4 years old. I don't believe it had a big effect on me but there are some parts of me that wonder if I'm the way I am because of that.

None of my close friends had divorced parents so it was nice to see how successful marriages worked growing up.

I would like to see what it might be like if my parents never split, but I don't think I'd change it.

They were separated when my dad died. His drinking finally drove them apart for good. I was 30

I'm not sure what part of you thinks this is funny, but I'm glad you were able to get a laugh out of it, bud.

Never divorced. Had a good chance too, when my dad decided to spend some time away from my mom, but he manned up and decided to work things out. Forever grateful he did.

It did, but that was one of the least traumatic things that happened to my siblings and I at that age.

When I was young, I didn't see my dad for 8 years. Now I see my folks 3-4 times per year.

Of course.

No.

No. 45 years for them thus far.

My siblings who went to college and returned to my small hometown and married hometown people are still married. My brother and I who left, married city girls and saw the world, are divorced. The older I get, the thought that you can't go home again haunts me.

Huge effect. I have horrific early memories. It's helped me be a better parent (I have to spin it someway )

Moved around a lot with Mom. My Dad lives in Vegas. I put my brother through college and help my Mom. Made me a better brother and son.

Not really. Friends and their homes became like second homes. If I ever went anywhere like the beach or mountains, it was with friends. It was tough not having a father, but many others filled that role. I'm very blessed.

No. I like who I am and where I'm going. Sometimes ya gotta know the bad to appreciate the good. Married 9 years, beautiful wife and daughter.

Divorced right after I turned 16. I have 2 younger brothers. It was hell on earth. It intensely highlighted the terrible people that they could be. I see them a couple times a year. Talk to my mom once a month or so, haven't talked to my dad in 6 months.

I was VERY fortunate to be friends with some good people with great families that really mentored me during that time.

Never, although when I was a kid I was pretty sure they were going to be during a rough patch of a few years.

Glad that didn't happen.

8. In 2000.

Very much so. After the divorce my mom moved us from Oklahoma City to South Carolina. I didn't know a soul there.

Since 2001 I saw my dad every other holiday and every summer up until my freshman year of college. I lived with my mom so I obviosly saw her everyday.

Yeah, but not many. I was always jelous of the kids with 2 parents.

All in all probably not because I wouldn't be where I am today. I'd probably be at OU or somewhere, and who knows what my life would be like. Also no use in them staying together if they weren't happy together.

No. They stayed together through thick and thin. Were they happy? Yes, I think so.
