Anybody have anything about this? I hear it may be about exoplanets that would likely support carbon based life but those discoveries have long been expected since earth like planets are thought to be littered throughout the habitable zone of the milky way. Supposed to be something big. Probably nothing earth shattering.

I was there on Saturday. They are really pushing their agenda to get to Mars by 2030-2040.

They will announce that the earth is in fact round and orbits the sun.

Probably a habitable exoplanet 300 light years away

I'm all for space travel and stuff, but I just don't get the Mars thing. I'd rather us have satellite colonies and some moon bases first.

NASA and ESA will send a mission to Ganymede and Europa to determine if the oceans of those two moons are harboring life.

Science is fake. Nasa is fake. News is fake. Therefore this news is fake, fake, fake.

And they've already said it's about exoplanets.

Which are fake

Cool. Maybe the atmosphere of an earth-like planet has been analyzed.

I hope not.
Not exactly looking forward to hearing news about an incoming asteroid heading directly for my breakfast table.

We actually could probably do something about that.

With our fake science

Hopefully that they will actually be working on what was intended for NASA as opposed to Obama's political agenda.

Not yet. There just isn't any nation or group of nations that are committed to an expensive program of finding and monitoring asteroids and comets that could wipe us out.

Oh, there are the amateur asteroid watchers and a half-hearted effort from NASA but we're still frequently surprised when a big body shows up in the neighborhood of earth. Fortunately, an earth-killing sized asteroid has to be very big so the amateurs would likely spot it before it hit but there are plenty of smaller, undetectable-with-current-interest asteroids and comets that could cause incredible damage.

For example, the Tunguska (150 meters or 492') and Barringer Meteor Crater, Arizona (40 meters or 131') bodies would most likely go undetected until just before impacting earth. The pics below illustrate the massive damage even those small meteors caused. Imagine the destruction if they had hit populated areas.

The Tunguska object was spotted ten minutes before the air burst.

Of course, there were far fewer celestial body watchers then.

So it is definitely about exoplanets beyond our solar system. I assume they have analyzed the atmosphere(s) and will announce earth like conditions but we'll see I guess.
