Not gonna lie, I'd have been pissed if a family member had given my son a BB gun without my permission.

It's not just about age - is he responsible? And even though it's just a BB gun, if your sister doesn't want guns in her home or for her kid to have one, that's her call. And it's a dick move to make her the bad guy when she inevitably takes it away.

It's not about politics - it's about respecting familial and parental boundaries.

How would you feel if she gave your son a BLM t-shirt? A Michael Moore DVD? A tranny starter kit?

Unless it's toys, things like guns or animals or loud arse drum sets shouldn't be given to a kid without okaying with the parents.

That's not the liberal in me talking - my son got a BB gun at 7 and a rifle at 12 - it's the mom in me telling you this is going to be worse than you think.

Please come back and tell us about the aftermath of her shooting you with that thing.

You know, I have never heard of a kid actually doing that. I have known some that hurt themselves with a slingshot though.Go figure.
One of my friends when we were a kid, broke his 2 front teeth with one of those wrist rocket slingshots, and I knew of several eye injuries.

Funny story: One Christmas, my younger brother, older cousin, and myself all got pellet rifles. Before the end of the day, three song birds, two squirrels and my grandpa's van window lay dead......we didn't see those rifles for another six years.

He is. If he was mean spirited or irresponsible, I wouldn't have bought it for him.

One of my friends lost most of the sight in one of his eyes from a paintball gun.

Damn. You were lucky. At 8, I was hunting with a .410 single shot and didn't get a 12ga until I was 14 or 15.

Daisy BB gun at 6 and a Red Ryder at 8. Our back yard was a might shy of wildlife for quite a while
