Been dipping for a bout 4 years now. Took probably a 6 month break (I don't know how) from it and put a pinch in and I would do anything to go back and not do it.
I'm trying to quit now. Anyone ever been addicted and then quit?

I quit smoking many years ago. I have no idea how that compares to smokeless, though. Good luck.

I chew just about every day. But I routinely go a week or so without. I wouldn't consider myself addicted so can't really help.

I've been using smokeless for about 10 years now. Somehow, some way, I quit cold turkey for about a year around 2009. After we lost the 2010 arkansas game I bought a can on the way home and haven't stopped since.
I only dip every so often now, usually if I'm real trashed or during football season. My main vice now is camel snus. I don't do it for any sort of feeling, since it doesnt' really affect me in any way, but it's more so about the habit and the oral fixation now. And the good thign about that compared to dip is that a)it's "safer" in that the way they cure it isn't nearly as bad for you as straight dip is b)it lasts a hell of a lot longer c)you can swallow it d)it's discreet so you can do it all day at work e)it tastes pretty good.

I quit for about a month for a girl 35 years ago. She promptly dumped me. I ain't fallin' for that again.
As a HS friend told his mom, "Anybody can quit dippin' snuff. It takes a real man to face lip cancer." Wise words.

Dude I quit drinking and meth after 30 years of hard use but there is still a can of Copenhagen in my back pocket, good luck.

I dipped Copenhagen for about 15 years and quit over a year ago. I didn't like the idea of something having "control" over me so I quit. And the whole increasing the chance for cancer thing.
I used chantix for a few weeks along with smokey mtn and sunflower seeds. Then I realized I was still spending about the same as when I dipped and quit everything (except seeds, I've always loved those).
I rarely even think about it anymore. I'll sometimes get cravings, but you'll be amazed how easy it is to quit when you realize it's basically a mental thing.

I smoke cigarettes and insufflate dry snuff. Good stuff.

It's tough man, but absolutely necessary. I quit cold turkey a few times, anywhere from 6 months to a year without use before it finally stuck....you've gotta commit, and you've got to avoid the things/situations when you normally would have one.....good luck-if it wasn't TERRIBLE for you, I'd still do it all day....

I agree but only if you've had the dip in for about 15 minutes.
Been dipping for about 30 years. Started to cut weight wrestling, stopped for a couple years and the picked it back up in the military. I quit drinking but can't stop dipping

Been chewing for 20 years or so. Picked up the habit in Desert Storm. Get help if you need to and stop. I have been very fortunate to not have any problems.

I agree with this as well. I never hated it, just knew I needed to quit.

Thanks for all the support guys.
Like many of you said, it's the will that will help quit.
It's so hard to not put one in driving, taking a dump, after I eat, after a couple of beers with my buddies. Those are all of my damn triggers.

I agree with most of those but have to add the "post nookie' double pinch dip....that is my all time favorite!

Had a can to a can and a half day habit. Was hooked on Copenhagen and it was a bitch to quit. Mine included sweats and shakes it was that bad. Had my last dip almost a decade ago now. Best decision I ever made. You can do it.
