The district as a whole started using uniforms in most of the schools (with a few exceptions) in the late 90s. I wore a uniform for two years. I found it was actually a lot easier to just throw on a polo and khakis/skirt for school (and we got a ton of polos through extra-curriculars like soccer, quick recall, Beta Club, etc).

Agreed

Had to wear a tie all throughout high school. It sucked sometimes but overall I think uniforms are a good idea. Mainly for the reason you listed.

I'm all for school uniforms and dress codes. Eliminates a lot of headaches administration has to deal with.

It seems pretty cut and dry. Don't like those rules go to your regular school. What's more important? A fricking hairdo or a child receiving a better education? I went LTMS here and had zero issue with the dress code as a kid.

Definitely yay. Children should grow up recognizing parental and social authorities.

Superficial conformity that involves everyone, such as uniforms does not stifle anyone. Rather, it shows the value of social cohesion. Individuality is deeper than the clothes we wear.

I also think that every person should serve two years in service to the country. That could take many forms, from military service to working in impoverished areas.

I am for uniforms for school in general whether it be for public, private, or magnet. I agree with your sentiments in your OP and will add that I think it helps alleviate some of the social angst of school. Kids getting picked on because they don't have the best or newest clothes or whatever. If everyone is in the same attire it just cuts some of that hazing and picking out between the kids.

Yup. Stricter the better. And hold to it too. School down the road has this white shirt black pantz deal going on...and it's a public school. But still see them with no belts pulling pantz up as they walk, etc.

I also believe main classes should be separated by sex too. Coed schools as a whole but separate in the main courses.

I don't mind school uniforms, we usually have to wear a "uniform" of some sort in professional settings, so I see nothing wrong actually priming kids for the fact some individualism goes out the door when you trade your time for compensation (in this case for grades). Also, it cuts down on one less stressor kids/parents have to worry about and attention can be diverted elsewhere.

Now as far as hairstyle? As long as it's not dyed some unnatural, distracting color, I don't see how/why kids can't choose their own.

I'm all for it. My two are in a public school that requires uniforms. Makes it a lot easier...

Private school means they can do what they want. If you don't like the rules, then you don't have to go through the effort to apply to get in.

I liked the uniform thing personally. One less worry in the mornings

I attended two high schools: one with, one without.

I actually enjoyed uniforms because it was just outright easier. I did not notice ANY difference between student interaction at either. Unless someone wore a fricking clown costume, no one cared.

Only downside with uniforms, is when you get disciplinary action for an untucked shirt or some bs.

Yes to school uniform/dress code.

They will have to do it anyway once they go into the workforce

Thoughts?

seems like another thing minorities are choosing to consider racist to feign outrage about. If it ONLY said no dreads or corn rows, ok that's a valid point. But it also says:

-no mohawks
-no dyes, tints, or highlights for dudes
-no male hair below the collar
-fros are acceptable! Just only up to a certain length

Basically, the entire policy is summed up as "just have normal hair ffs". Whites, blacks, males, and females are all included/affected by this.

I say yay. I was all about it when my kids were in the Savannah school system. Old Navy has their annual sale and I can get at least a week's worth of polos/shorts for $50.

Richmond Hill/Bryan County doesn't have a uniform policy so now I have to buy a whole new wardrobe. shite sucks.
