RE: legalizing recreational drugs and selling them in shops

If someone has to explain to you why selling heroin at a convenience store is a bad idea, then you're probably not capable of furthering the discussion.

People like to impose their beliefs on other people. I say if you want to be a junkie and die, it might actually be good for society. Let idiots kill themselves off.

I think the argument is it makes it too easily accessible to kids who don't know better.

I don't even do drugs (besides alcohol) and I think drugs should be legal.

what are you including in recreational drugs? Pot, i already live in Colorado and havent met one person who openly opposes it. as far as anything else i do, i would not feel right about open availability to blow , lsd, and shrooms.

I dunno, druggies will rob, steal, lie and sometimes kill to get a fix before sinking into severe detoxing, I think crime would sky rocket for a while.

This is sickeningly true. The "war on drugs" is a fricking welfare program.

In Kentucky we even have "drug courts" that are supposed to help the convicted turn their lives around, unite with their families and become productive citizens. That hardly ever happens but the courts add judges, bailiffs, clerks, social workers, etc. to a burgeoning taxpayer liability.

All drugs should be legalized and taxed. Drug courts should be abolished.

Tax revenue from drugs could fund mental health programs that would find people who abuse substances in their attempts to deal with mental illnesses. Presently, Kentucky leads the nation in overdose deaths because our junkies lurk in the shadows.

We need to bring drug use out into the open, let the recreational user enjoy them and help those who become dependent upon them. It's a win-win for everyone.

Define "recreational drugs"? If pot only... well, I'd still be against it due to past experiences, but I wouldn't have a conniption fit over it. If cocaine, heroin, meth, etc., you're an idiot.
