5074. Janeway

You do realize in many episodes the secondary crew have been made temporary captain including Spock and Checkov

ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS DUDE?!?!?! Kirk is by FAR the GOAT!!! He ALWAYS found a way to win in ANY situation that he faced. See the Kobayashi Maru!! PLUS he was the first intergalactic manwhore!!!

My favorite characters:
Commander Data
Captain Picard
Lieutenant Tuvak
Sevenofnine
The Borg
As much as I love star trek I never did get into the original. I will watch it when it comes on and I am sure I am missing out but it just doesn't do it for me.

Piss poor troll attempt.
Kirk is to Picard as Al Czervik is to Jack Hartounian.

Yeah no shite. Riker regularly takes command of the Enterprise. Data has as well, and was given command of his own ship for an operation to stop the Romulans. Worf temporarily left Star Fleet during the Klingon civil war and wasn't just a ship captain, he was basically in command of the whole Klingon fleet (still loyal to Gowron) hell even Beverly Crusher eventually becomes captain of a science/ medical ship in the future. Dont tell me about Star Trek bro.
But I'm not talking about that because that doesn't count. I'm talking strictly the officer in command on each series.
And Picard is absolutely 100x the captain of that undisciplined, rogue Kirk. Kirk is only #2 by default because Sisko and Janeway both suck so much.
Picard >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kirk
TNG>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Original Series

I agree that Picard is the best captain but I don't share your mysogyny for Captain Janeway. The writers made her to be very capable.
Kirk is a testosterone-soaked head case compared to Picard and Janeway and would be completely inept save for Spock (my favorite character).
I also agree that TNG is by far the best series.

You forgot Archer. I'd put him 3rd. He survived with "polarized hull-plating" instead of real shields. That gets some points.

I agree with the next generation and I was also very fond of Captain Janeway. She is currently the character "Red" in orange is the new black.

2. Archer
3. Sisko (think he was promoted to captain after starting out as a commander when the series began)
4. Kirk
5. Janeway

I'm still in the first season of DS9 and haven't seen Enterprise.
I've heard Enterprise isn't great but the concept is interesting enough to me that I'll probably check it out because First Contact is my favorite of the movies.

Doubt it. How long before humans did the Vulcans possess warp drive capabilities? You don't think at least one Vulcan found it logical to spread the Vulcan seed throughout the galaxy?

I am on episode 7 of DS9. It is ok but nothing like NG or Voyager. I watched the first episode of Enterprise and it looks like it may be worth the effort of watching it. I just recently binge watched every season of Voyager and it took me almost 3 months. We could certainly use another series....

I never watched Enterprise when it was being aired the first time, but then I binge watched the whole series last year and I liked it. It was my 3rd favorite of the series behind TOS and TNG, definitely better than Voyager or DS9. One downside, though, was that it did prominently feature one of my pet peeves about lots of sci-fi. Scroll down if you don't mind a slight spoiler on what that is...
Stupid time travel paradoxes/plot holes

Sisko looks so different in the first season than he does there that I had to Google to see if it was the same actor

Nope. Even Spock and Scotty thought Picard was better.
Kirk was a renegade. Reckless and undisciplined.
Picard was refined, professional, honorable, and respected even by Klingons and his enemies like the Romulans and Cardassians.
Kirk is like Picard was a 22 yr old junior officer fresh out of star fleet academy getting into bar fights. Picard actually grew up while Kirk stayed acting like a cadet.

I wouldn't laugh at the Cardassians, bro. They are ruthless. Imagine an entire species of Hitler.
