Not sure if the latest rain storm has helped the drought situation but much of the waterfalls and streams had pretty much dried up...I'm guessing irs not back to normal levels but I figure there's enough for fishing and what not.

Little River Canyon is very nice along with the falls. however, due to the extreme drought the whole state has endured, the falls literally dried up to nothing.
the hiking will be fine, though. One of my favorite state parks.

Can't help you there bud, you are pretty far northeast - a good drive from Huntsville, Cullman, or Birmingham. That's where the breweries have popped up. I think Chattanooga has a lot to offer, but I'll leave that to our Tennesseans.

It's close to Fort Payne. Small town. Not a whole lot there.

The closest brewery that I know of is down in Gadsden, probably 30 miles away. Back Forty Beer Company.

Make sure to check out The viking(Madoc's) Cave.Pretty interesting. It's been 20 years since I was there, and it was tricky to get to,but I'm sure some local hikers can get you there. It is on the western wall of the canyon, not far below the falls, and there is a narrow ledge that you need to go around on. It is damn well hidden though.

The Canyon is a beautiful hike ,one of my favorite places.

If you have time, also go check out The Walls Of Jericho in Jackson County. It's not too far away.
There is now a trail that starts at Hytop,Al.,that makes it an easy hike. There are some videos of the place on youtube,so you can decide if it is a place you would like to go to.
This would have been Davy Crockett's hunting/ stomping ground, before he joined Jackson's Army. His first wife Polly is buried just a few miles north,at Bean's Creek,TN.

here is a video link LINK

That may be the vilest beer I've ever tried at The Back Forty.

I live in Gadsden.Surely Chattanooga has more to offer, but I'll leave that to someone else.

Enjoy your trip.
