I couldn't tell from the video that the suspect was hit, but it says he died after driving off from a wound to the chest. Suicide?

The officer did a good job of placing a critical hit in a very stressful situation. On average 150 cops watch someone come and kill them every year.
Remember people carrying a gun is only part of protecting yourself. Being mentally prepared is an even bigger part.
