I'm headed to Gainesville for the first time that I'm able to go out leisurely around town for food and libations. Any recommendations?

Downtown is cool. Lillian's for the older crowd. Gator City for pregame or anywhere in the block vicinity to watch the early games and then walk across the street to the stadium.

I'm 25 so I think I'm at a versatile enough age to go to most bars. It's an eight-hour drive up from Key West so I'll be looking to throw a few back Friday night. Also looking for delicious places to eat that are specific to Gainesville that when alumni come back to town, they think, "I've got to stop at ___ while I'm here."

"I've got to stop at Satchel's Pizza while I'm here." -Casual dining

"I've got to stop at Manuel's Vintage Room while I'm here." -White Tablecloth Place (Italian).

eat:

Mark's Prime (downtown)
Dragonfly Sushi (Downtown)
101 Cantina (University)
The Top (downtown)
Emiliano's (downtown)

drink:

Gator City (University)
The Swamp (University - food sucks)
Gator's Dockside (University - good for watching a game- food sucks)
Brass Tap (archer)
Tall Paul's (downtown)
101 (downtown, kind of clubby, hot chicks though)
Loosey's (downtown)
Durty Nelly's (downtown)

after making my list, I suggest sticking downtown

Copper Monkey (near the stadium) has good burgers
Burrito Brothers is a Gainesville legend
Satchels has great pizza

If you have time, try Pearl's BBQ in Micanopy on your way up.

I will never go to copper monkey again due to those assholes staring over the balcony all day just waiting for the chance to get people towed
