I am restoring a bench lathe and need to know the proper lubrication for the pillow blocks that hold the lead screw. Anyone have a suggestion as to whats best?

Very cool. I just inherited my grandpa's Shop Smith from the 50's that I'm going to be doing a bit of tuning up on myself. I'd think some white lithium grease would do the trick...anyone else care to weigh in?

If you know her to work your hands and tongue on the bench, you won't have to use any external lubricant at all.
