I actually think a half marathon or full marathon is more taxing on the body than an Ironman. You usually go harder at those distances. An Ironman is a day long stroll making sure you can eat enough to keep moving forward.

Don't want to be an arse but a 50k is not double a marathon. About 5 extra miles in our non metric world.

You still alive? How did you do?

2 miles in 17:57... I was very happy with it considering I haven't actually ran two miles in close to two weeks

Sorry. Forgot to check back in. Anyway... most challenging thing I've ever done - by a long shot. About 8000 ft elevation gain, mostly very technical trails. First time since I started running seriously 1.5 years ago that I didn't finish in the top 10-20%. 130 out of 250... took me 7.5 hours. I was mentally done after a hard fall 15 miles in. Anyway, I finished, which I felt was quite an accomplishment for me.

Excellent. Thanks for sharing. Will there be a second event or one and done?

Nothing that long for a while. Mostly obstacle course racing (5-15 miles) in spring/summer. Plan on running a road marathon in the fall and then decide if want to fully train for ultras in '18.

Does anyone have a newer pair of Huaraches or Pegasus?
Mine are old and need replaced.
I can only wear Nike or Adidas due to very narrow foot.

Getting back to losing a few pounds. I got a scale for my b-day that syncs with my fitbit and lost almost 7 pounds since jan 1.
Great job.
I ran a 1/2 marathon in October, then sprained the hell out of my ankle (3rd degree) in November. Was just able to start running again last week. Shooting for another 1/2 in October and a full marathon in March, 2018.
I am looking at the Garmin scale to motivate me a little bit. How's the FitBit one working out?

How did you do in your 1/2?
Posted on 3/27/17 at 9:43 am to Old Sarge
2:22.
It's a start. My girlfriend didn't train as much as I did, so there was a bit of very slow jogging for her sake.
The sprained ankle really set me back. I wanted to do the Rock n Roll 1/2 last month in New Orleans. Now I have to wait until the next Jazz 1/2 in October, then shooting for the Rock n Roll full marathon in March, 2018.
We'll see...

Rodeo is finally over and the workouts have begun. New gym is too crowded after work, so I am giving the mornings before work a try. I literally have to insult myself to get out of bed for that 4:30 alarm, but once I get rolling its actually pretty nice. Not sure if the mornings will last, but I'm not dead yet

Applied Nutrition Green Tea Fat Burner and GNC Methyl Vitamin B-12 2500mcg are your friends for those 4:30 a.m. wake up calls.
I keep one of each on the bedside table and take one as soon as the alarm goes off. Those and a scoop of Smucker's all natural peanut butter are my early morning pre-workout routine.

I'm a little hesitant to try fat burners, because I'm really only looking to cut up, and gain 10-20 lbs of muscle. However, I will definitely look into it. My preworkout is great for the afternoons, but is too sweet in the morning. Searched for coffee preworkout k-cups and Revv seems to have great reviews, so I may give that a shot as well.
