Posted on 4/19/16 at 8:35 pm to Old Sarge
When i was first starting back i would try to add around 2.5 pounds on each side so like the little weights when doing free weights.

I haven't lifted in 28 years but I'm basically where I was when I was 17, curling 50, I'm doing 40lb skull crushers touching the bar to my forehead. I have no idea if any of that is good or bad

don't touch it to your head, try to hold it about an inch from your forehead and then extend back out but don't extend all the way. It will keep your tricep under stress the entire time.

Non-athletic, "if I'm running, it's only because a bear is chasing me" hubby had his first 5k training class today - he can already run/walk a mile faster than I can.
Bring short sucks.

I'm jealous of you. Leg day is a bitch, but man I miss it. 6 months out from a broken leg, probably won't be able to do leg day for another 6 months.

Would like to give a hearty to heartbreakTiger and Cas4t for suggesting skull crushers. They have been destroying me the past couple weeks. Seems to be working though so I suppose I'll take it.

Guys I need advice. I've been to two different doctors regarding some pretty sharp pain on the upper inside of my arch. Both told me to rest it and ice it regularly and it would be fine, but it's been 3 months and I can't walk around the block without starting to limp from the pain. Forget doing any worthwhile cardio.
Has anybody had this issue before or know any remedies for it?

Could be plantar fasciitis - is it bad when you take your first steps in the morning or does it come on after you've been up for a while?
When I had PF, I had to take anti-inflammatories, wear only shoes with good arch support for about a month, and do some stretching. There's a brace you can wear when you're sleeping, but I resolved it without needing one.

It normally flares up after doing a little walking. Wether it's across the parking lot to my car or around the block or just walking around my office.
It's really a weird pain for me. It's a sharp pain but it really isn't unbearable or anything. It's more scary than painful bc it feels like every step (once it starts) something is going to snap or tear.

I'm not a medical professional, but it sounds like some sort of tendonitis. I would take it easy, take ibuprofen and wear your most supportive shoes for week. No sandals/flip flops. See if there's any improvement.
I had to wear tennis shoes to the office for a month, which was not a good look, but helped me tremendously.
Sarge - I feel ya. I've been relegated to only running on the weekends due to a medical issue. Not what I needed before my 10k next Saturday.
