Building a little street/strip engine. Who's the best manufacturer for a custom cut cam any suggestions?

Is Key?

How heavy is your ride? Do you need to have a balance of toruque vs. HP?

Do you want everyday drivability? want that midrange power? This all determines what grind that you want to use, High valve lift, short duration, or the other way around, maybe something in between.

If you can't decide, just bolt one of those power bands in there, I have been told that is some awesome shite. Never seen one myself. It must be some kind of chain or something..

Looking for good mid range to top end power. Car weights about 3340 with me in it. I'm trying to spin somewhere between 6800-7200. I'm just putting something together to go hunt down the local Chevy purist who won't shut up

talk to the folks at Isky, tell them what you have, compression, bore, stroke, gear ratio,transmission,etc.. They have been doing that work for a long time and know their shite.

As stated any of the top cam builders can spec something for your ride. Another option is getting one from a well known and respected engine builder.Jon Kaase would be my choice, but there are tons of good builders out there. My advice would be to stick with someone familiar with the SBF. Regardless spend the few extra bucks to have one custom cut for your application and don't just pick something off the shelf that is "close".

Smallest I'm running at the moment is a 680 by 680 but that's in a 598 big block chevy and it's just temporary until Isky finishes the custom one. The cam in the 57 I posted pics of here is bigger but it's a custom done by Awesome engines set up specifically for the nitrous set up on the car. I know Rousch used to do some custom parts for SBF but I don't know if they still do.

Eta: if your running on the street with a stock torque converter don't go any larger than a "270" cam.
