There's tons more that can be posted. Why can't they write good songs anymore? Nothing today touches the music of the late 60s through the early 80s. Today's music has no meaning, no soul, no story. It's all generic and repetitive and meant to sound good at the club, not meant to actually be listened to and enjoy as a work of art.

Well I'm sure there are some great, mostly unknown bands but I'm talking mainstream. The mainstream music used to be great, but it sucks now. I don't have time to search for all of the bands that they never play on the radio, I'm way too busy. Hell I'm lucky if I have time to relax and watch 1 hour of tv a day.

Im with you Delta, but I will admit, that Bruno Mars is a guilty pleasure of mine. Dude is amazing. Reminds me of Michael Jackson from a pure talent point of view.

Last week I stumbled onto some R.E.M YouTube videos from the early 80s in Athens, GA. Just them playing acoustic versions of their original songs. Brilliant. So Central Rain. Rockville. Driver 8.
I don't see artists writing that level of material these days.

You're crazy. Roger Waters was a lyrical genius..the Wall album was awesome. Some deep shite in there...you have to understand his life to really get the songs though.
When I listen to music I have to relate to the emotion or the story of the song in a personal matter though...otherwise it's just noise to me.

I wasn't alive during the era mentioned but even I agree with OP. Music was way better back in yalls day. I mostly listen to stuff from the 60s and 70s

You aren't listening to the right stuff.
