I think there are some condo's on 29th st and 7th ave south, directly across from the Rare Martini in the $1200 range, only a year or two old and they are building another set. You've got On Tap and a couple other bars right there as well and several eateries as well.

Scratch that... they're apts..

Yes. The Saw's in Crestline Park. There's three locations.

Oh so it's the area around saws? That place had some awesome food when I was in town last month. My dad took my there.

If your dad lives in Helena, I really doubt that's the one he took you to.

$1600 rent/month for a 2 bed 2 bath and 1200 sqft living

Is that what rentals cost these days? That's P&I on a $340k mortgage. Seems steep for 1200 sq. ft. in the south.

I'm fed up with giving my money to the state of Louisiana.

schools suck, infrastructure sucks, traffic sucks, taxes suck, government sucks, etc etc.. I could go on and on.

This happened to me and I'm a fricking native. The new tax increases with no budget cuts insight made my move to Georgia that much easier. I couldn't defend la anymore.

Any of those houses around there is where you want to live. Google map a line between Saw's juke Joint (the one you went to) and Saw's Soul Kitchen (in avondale) and you want to live close to that line.

Aubie, if they don't annex us we will have moved long before we have kids go to woodlawn.

Yep, it's rough now but is definitely improving and won't be long before it becomes the new crestline.

This Woodlawn talk has made me decide to go to Sammy's Sandwiches for lunch for the best burger in town.

I would prefer to stay under 1,400/month and not have an apartment.

I have too much shite that goes in a garage to have an apartment.

I'm not sure on details on purchase price or mortgage, but I know the house I am renting was listed at $200k. that is around $1k mortgage payment. 3 bed/2 bath with a garage/basement.

Depends on where you'll be working. If it's downtown or any area that's considered "over the mountain," I'd suggest staying away from Helena or Alabaster. Traffic in the morning sucks arse out of those areas, and in Helena you might get stuck via a train for over an hour.

If you don't have kids, look in the Avondale, Crestwood and Crestline area. If you do have kids, look in Cahaba Heights or Bluff Park area. You don't want your kids going to Birmingham City Schools

Used to live in Pell City and loved it. Close to the lake and I-20 with everything you'd need in town

Have some family in Pell City and visit frequently. I wouldn't call myself an alcoholic, but I couldn't live in a town that only has a few restaurants that serve alcohol, with one of those being crappy Mexican.

I grew up in Bluff Park. Wonderful place. I'd live there even as a single mid 20's guy because it's quiet and quick access to Bham. I currently live in another part of Hoover and hate it. There's plenty of neighborhoods that would be great if you have a family, but at this stage in my life I hate all of it outside of Bluff Park. My last apartment was in the Highland area just a few blocks from Lakeview. That's the area I recommend for other mid 20's people.

That's another reason I'm leaving BR. I would not dare send my kids to a public school in this town.

We do not currently have kids but this is a move that will be a get married and settle down move with plans for future kids.

I'm in the Bluff Park area and absolutely love it. Close to downtown but away from most of the shenanigans. Plus, the Hoover school system is great (no kids yet)

Seriously look in Bluff Park and Cahaba Heights. Only issue I have with Cahaba Heights is Highway 280. I'd rather eat dirt than deal with it and it's traffic every morning
