Hmmm, the blast effect of a bouncing Betty. Had a headache for months and a raging UTI from a catheter. Then followed by unfortunately catching a ricochet or ripping my pec off.

Concussive force is a pretty close second, though.

Kidney stones in 2009. $14,000 ER bill for a three hour stay to tell me I had kidney stones.

Second place is a broken nose/deviated septum when I was 14, got it playing sharks and minnows.
You'd shite a brick if you found out how much they charge for gauze in the OR.

On topic, worst pain I've had was getting shot in the stomach. Hoooly shite.

Broke my femur, and slashed my head on the windshield in a wreck. The actual break and head didn't hurt that bad. Why, I don't know. I guess they drugged me up enough before I got out of shock that it never got to a point of a lot of pain. But two other things happened that hurt like frick.

First, I tore my knee open also and they had to take one of those big arse q-tips and dig around in there to make sure it wasn't any worse. That hurt like hell.

Next, they had to put my leg in traction for the night until I could go into surgery the next day. They come in and give me shots above my knee to numb it and then they come in with a Dewalt drill to drill the hole. The inside of the knee had numbed up good and I was like oh this is weird but doesn't really hurt... Then he got through the bone and on the other side and it had not had enough time to numb up... I called that son of a bitch with the drill every name in the book as he was drill out the other side.

There was some PT that I did that was painful, like electroshock therapy, but nothing was even close to them drilling a hole through my leg.

Ummm..

My worst pain wasn't from an injury, but from an illness. I had pneumonia and a double lung infection a few years ago, fought it for 5 days at home, then the emergency room, then 6 nights in the hospital.

My 2nd night in the hospital, I couldn't stop coughing, and I mean not for a second. To make it worse, they had men in one of those beds that move, and it was somehow thumping the floor and rattling me every couple of seconds, and I couldn't get the nurses to understand what was happening, and finally got them to unplug it, and of course, it was an uncomfortable position. My wife finally went to the nurses station and sat in the floor and cried, she thought I was dying. The chaplain of the hospital came up to talk to her, and finally after about 8 hours of that, they gave me something to knock me out. Worst night of my life.

I posted this long ago in the back surgery thread and so far it's still number one for me....

Best advice I can offer is if any Dr. says the word Discogram, punch him in the face, run like hell and don't look back. BY FAR the worst and most painful experience I have ever been through. And that includes the 2 back surgeries, a crushed knee, foot, and thumb (all at separate times) a twisted right nut, dislocated shoulder, dislocated nose from being hit in the face with a drive shaft and a gall bladder that went haywire and had to be removed.

Had one also. If you haven't had one you have no idea. This is by far the most intense pain I have ever felt. You can't sit still, you can't stand up, you can't lay down, you can't walk around, NOTHING at all helps the pain.

Probably my last endometriosis flare-up before my surgery to remove it. The endo had essentially created webbing that attached my bowel to my abdominal wall. So I'd have debilitating stabbing pain in my lower left abdomen as well as issues with my bowel on top of it all. Awful doesn't begin to describe it.

Severe ankle sprain in 2006, when I was in the Army. Tore the Anterior talofibular and Calcanefibular ligaments, dented the Talus and Tibia bones and ruptured the cartilage. I've had 2 surgeries and still have issues walking long distances or standing for an extended period of time...plus I've already developed a moderate case of osteoarthritis. Led to me having to get a medical discharge after 9 years of service because I couldn't meet (what they called) basic soldier requirements.

Dislocated my should 39 times and put it back in immediately 39 times. On the 40th, it stayed out for 2.5 hours while I waited on medical treatment and tried to slam it in. That was not good.

But not as bad as when I ruptured my L4-L5 vertebrae. Couldnt lay down, sit down or stand up.
