That just says they are doing a study to see what impact the a toll would have. I would still be surprised if they put a toll on it.

Isn't that the definition of ignorant?

And that's the first I've heard about a toll. I've gotten my information from people within the industry. But I can't imagine a federal highway with a toll in the center of it. That just seems absurd. I've only heard of or seen interstate tolls for express lanes.

IIRC, there were lovely toll booths in the middle of I-95, to leave Deleware. Plus others further north.
I could be mistaken, it's been many years, but I'm pretty sure that was regular Interstate.

I would gladly pay a toll if it meant not being stuck on the bridge. Its like people get close to the tunnel entrance and become afraid that they are travelling into the depths of Hell.

I think the traffic has more to do with that stupid curve at the mobile West side, where people have to go 35 mph around it.

Yeah there's tolls all over interstate highways in the northeast including the one you mentioned, NJ Turnpike, NY Thruway. It's a state by state thing I believe

It's definitely more due to the curve. The curve is sketchy if you have a semi next to you

They're conducting a study to use tolls on the I-49 expansion from Texarkana to Fort Smith.

Pretty sure that's the proposed bridge.

No, it's the Cochran-Africatown Bridge to the north or the tunnels. It's a great option if you are going from I-65S to I-10E or I-10W to I-65N, but it's no help if you are just going straight E/W on I-10.

And yes, we have a new bridge in the planning phase. There has been so much talk about it that I can't imagine it won't happen. But it will be a long time before it is in use.

My grandpa worked on that thing. Otherwise, yeah, it's fricked. It needs to be dynamited. Any way around the Bay besides that route is always cool by me.

The picture posted by Don Johnson is the proposed bridge. It goes over Austal and the convention center is to its North.

You can tell just by looking at the picture that it's not a real bridge.

Not many people realize that there is an on ramp that feeds into the right lane of the tunnel about 40 feet from the entrance of the tunnel on the west side. They merged a lane into the two travel lanes. That's why the right lane slows so much

When the atchafalaya basin bridge gets backed up, it is the worst bridge in America.
