Thank you, Missouri. i was sure UT's chancellor, Jimmy Cheek, was the biggest idiot out there.
We appreciate you stealing the title from us.
R. Bowen Loftin displays amazing stupidity
Luckily for Mizzou, more sensible heads have prevailed.
Mizzou realizes how stupid it looked freaking out about old Confederate photo, removes ‘threatening’ statement

Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin, the highest-ranking official at the University of Missouri, became pathetically unglued this week and threatened to hunt down students and alumni over a photograph from 2012 of some people holding a Confederate flag.
He suggested that students could feel physically threatened by the three-year-old photo’s appearance on Twitter.

Down the memory hole it goes.
University of Missouri Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin’s statement that a three-year-old photo of a Confederate flag near campus was “threatening” to the community – reported yesterday by The College Fix and other outlets – has now been erased from his website.
It’s still archived online, as the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) points out today. Read it yourself: Loftin hinted he would punish any Mizzou students identified in the photo (none were).
In a new statement, Loftin plays dumb that days earlier he had accused a collection of pixels from the first Obama administration of endangering the “safety” of campus:

The politically correct actions of today gives me insight into this event:

I told everyone there was something that I didn't like about Loftin. Everyone had such an SEC boner that they forgot to look at what kind of guy he is, and what policies he likes.
It's no surprise that an Aggie didn't want girls to be allowed to hang out with dudes on the weekends.

Careful because we know that we're just the first one at the trough......all the chancellors/presidents are drafting their "intolerant" speeches as I type this.

Sadly, you are correct.

You're right.
We used to fly First National flags at fraternity tailgates at USC, and sometimes outside of our house during rush. Greek Life would tell us not to, especially in the Greek Village, but there were plenty of others who did it, too.
Now? I'd be fearful that Pastides would have you expelled from school. Seriously, there's really no end to this bullshite.

Why? Because our chancellor, who is a lifelong Texan, is a staunch liberal? That's not very solid reasoning.

R. Bowen Loftin is an Aggie, and the reason Texas A&M is in the SEC.

You're absolutely right. I was one of those people that were suckered in by the Athletics side of things and thought he was great. I've quickly learned though that he has radically liberal views and is trying to drastically alter traditions and social lifestyles at Mizzou. Plus he took away the beer at the senior send off this year...WTF!

Apparently, you fail to realize that Loftin has been at Mizzou for only a year and was sent to us by Texas A&M.
Therefore, logic would say that Texas A&M isn't part of the south, amirite?

Says the old man from the state that just abolished the old confederate battle flag. BTW, my brother was at the lowering of the flag event and said it was a pathetic display of pussies from both sides of the argument. It actually made he and his wife decide to consider a move away from SC.

If you didn't know this before today, you're not good at geography.

I'm kinda starting to like the rebel flag some because of this whole PC cray cray.

Deaton wasn't a student favorite, but the man made some good decisions. I've had dinner with him a few times, and he was all about traditions...sadly Loftin is not.
As for this geography classification debate:
Missouri is a part of the Midwest. There is like no debate about this. Simply from a topography, climate, and agriculture standpoint (the things that classify regions usually), we are definitely Midwest. There are a few parts of the state that differ (bootheel, etc), but the large majority fit in with the likes of Iowa, Illinois (south of Chi-town), and other states. Our culture is much more like these states than the likes of Mississippi and Alabama.

I think it's time for an "Is Missouri a Southern State?" thread on the SECRant...
