And Thursday, students at the University of Arkansas, too, stood together to support students at the University of Missouri.
The student groups sponsoring the U of A event, called a "Blackout," included Profound, NAACP, SASS, BSA, BGSA, NABMU, NSBE, BAS Scholars, NABA, and BSA and Connections.
They called for students to wear all black on Thursday in solidarity with Mizzou.
Dara Gaines, a junior at the U of A, told KNWA/Fox 24: "People here are saying something about it because a threat to justice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
But as students at the "Blackout" held hands and sang outside the student union, they also called attention to the racism present on the U of A campus.
"We are at a PWI, which is a predominately white institution. We face a lot racism and a lot of oppressive issues," said Kristen Smith, a U of A student.
"African American issues are just kind of looked over here because we are such a small minority," Dara Gaines added.

You should wear a lot of pastels on that day. Go to the "black out" dressed in saved by the bell colors.

This whole movement is so fricking stupid and childish.

frick Missouri. They choked twice in the SECCG and the most notable player to come out of that school in ten years is a gay defensive end that got kissed on national television during the NFL draft.

Solution: legalize weed in the south. Everyone realizes we live in America and that's all that matters.

This whole situation is beyond ridiculous.

They had something like that here at ULM today as well. They had music and were jigging and doing all sorts of crazy dances. Felt like a Black Panther Party

Eh, the event only lasted 30 minutes and there were only a few dozen people there.
The U of A just kept promoting the hell out of the black comedian performing on campus tonight.

My favorite quote from today
Suck it, Mizzou
I walked by while they were out on the Union Mall today. They were only there for an hour or so and from what I saw basically just stood in a circle and sang songs, which I have no problem with. And for the most part they also said they weren't protesting racism on campus here, just supporting Mizzou. If that's all they do, and they don't disrupt campus like in Columbia, then I'm cool with it. Do whatever the frick you want.

"Mizzou did not welcome me with open arms, the UofA has," a student who transferred from Mizzou said. #uablackout @UAtrav

You go to ULM, but you are a LSU fan?

The only good thing is you can find out who these racist protesters and their useful idiots are and put them on the no hire list.
