My opinion on millenials is that there is a divide. They are billionaire or bust. About 1/3 of them are completely worthless POS, entitlement-minded, SJWs, most of the rest are struggling, but trying to make it in this world, and a very small percentage are going to absolutely change the world more so than any generation in history.

The Millenials are the worst generation to date, but like someone pointed out, they're a product of the previous generation's disintegration of the family unit. Now, Millenials have to deal with even more inimical family dynamics, and their offspring will have even less concept of their respective roles in a family unit.

I am too much of a Gen X slacker to read that.

What about the Gatsby Generation? They partied the nation into the Great Depression, which led to the liberal–commie New Deal. Plus Prohibition.
Here Gatsby's:

The 'deal' that saved the country was the second world war. The economy of the 1930s was similar today in that there were brief periods of improvement followed by declines.
The unemployment rate in 1937 was the same as it was in 1934 - then Europe started re-arming and US industry was a big beneficiary.

There's simply no way to make that determination either way.
Though you seem to be agreeing, that's kind of the point. Every day there is some new condemnation of millenials based on weak social trends that are more or less true of every generation. The same old farts bitching about SJWs and instagram have peers who burned American flags in the 60's.

I don't disagree with his basic point. I took exception with the 'evidence' he was using to support it.

I mean, there's no way to quantify "this generation sucks" or "that generation was awesome," when you stop and think about it
Invariably, it's going to come down to personal bias and experiences. For every negative anecdote, there's a positive one, and vice versa.
It's pointless and futile to compare generations, because it's really not possible to do so objectively or equitably. Each generation faces unique challenges and responds to them as best they can.
It's the blanket statements about generations (either way) that are redundant and patently absurd.

I'm a proud millennial who is the treasurer of the board and shareholder of 1 company, 20% owner of another company, and manager of a catfish farm that all together could make 6 figures at 25 yrs old if my business ventures do well. Guaranteed 55k in salary plus free house and utilities paid by the farm.
Not bad for a single 25 yr old male. I am however deeply ashamed of my SJW millennial counterparts that bring shame to my generation

isn't every new generation the "worst generation ever"?
No, the "baby boomers" held that title for a very very long time, and still should be in the running.

Not bad at all
We definitely have our subset of clowns. That's the important thing to remember, though--it's a subset. Every generation has a few of them that act a plumb fool.
The only rub is when folks from outside the gen in question try to hold up the stooges as typical of us all. Or when our peers try to say that about past gens.

The YOUNGEST babyboomers are now in their middle 50s. The oldest are 70. These people are at the end of their careers with many of them already retired. They've got no reason to feel the need to get up and work to climb the mountain- they're already at the top.
This comment is so full of fail

We're a generation coming to age in a major transition economically. The SJWs are a reflection of that (much like the anti-SJW backlash is).
It's tough right now to get started, and many of us are barely holding on. The good news is the future looks very promising, but we'll struggle for maybe a couple of decades before we reach our land of milk and honey. It's not the first time in history (my grandparents had this little thing called WWII, the boomers and Xers faced the growing challenges of globalization, ect). We'll be judged by how we handle the challenge before us and those writing us off are writing off that rookie with potential because he struggled some when he got to the show.

Millenials are really the first generation that really hasn't had to experience difficult times. No cold war, draft...people are more highly educated, technology is off the charts. It's reflected in the things we see in young people right now. They'll probably be no different from any other generation when they get a decade or so under them.
I think they come off as soulless because they haven't had to struggle.

War on Terror? Global economic recession? Disintegration of the nuclear family unit across the board?
I mean, most of my younger siblings can't remember pre-9/11 airport security
Every generation has their struggles to deal with.
