I had torn both Achilles and they left me on deployment on air splints and pain killers. After getting out the VA was like holy frick. I had surgery after 2 failed regiments of physical therapy.

Painkillers? So.... Ibuprofen?

How did you tear both Achilles??

I jacked my knees up in Afghanistan, i'm in the Infantry, they just gave me some ibuprofen. Got back and the V.A said I need a knee replacement on my right knee.

Ibuprofen is the Army cure all...

Something a little more potent. However it came with signed permission from some important guy. Whenever an E7 would try and yell at me for sitting on watch I'd just show the sexy air splints.

That makes sense. The Army is known for its love of ibuprofen though.

dislocated my ankle, was told it was a light sprain. VA nearly crapped their pants when the saw all the scar tissue. Need surgery soon.

"It's okay, you just have chiggers all over your stomach."
"Oops, that's Staph Infection."

Honorable mention of a misdiagnosis: Mother was in for 15 years, E7 (Army, I was Navy) -- misdiagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and had her career ended.

Should have had surgery on my ankle a couple years ago. Didn't get cleared for it until I woke up last Halloween and couldn't walk on it.
Now I just got told last week I can't go to physical therapy at the civilian hospital 2 minutes from my house anymore and have to use the base clinics facilities (which are crappy--shocker).
And my wife has a whole 'nother set of health issues I won't get into here but has gotten the complete run around on

I flipped my right foot damn near 180, tearing the ligaments, denting the bone, and shattering the cartilage in my ankle doing air assault training during an FTX. I was told that it was a sprain and they allowed me to finished the FTX sans Flack Vest...
now 2 ankle surgeries later I still have issues walking

I was one of the lucky ones, made it out without any serious injuries. No pain, no difficulties.
I'm sure I'll get lung cancer in a year or so from all the shite we breathed.

I've probably got five bottles of Motrin 800's.

They didn't claim it wasn't real, but I was sent to Graf in a full leg cast and crutches. You haven't lived until you've hiked the woods in full battle rattle with a leg cast.

Sounds like you needed some morphine

WTF?????
I'll pass the hike and just take an agonizing 15 minute swim.
