A bill has been fast tracked through the bureaucratic system that essentially eliminates countries.

If country X democratically decides they don't want product X in their country, an international lawyer will rule that product X will be allowed.

This, along with many other neat little tricks.

Sorry for the interruption -- please return to your regularly scheduled drivel.

Obama just would've used an executive order to make it happen

The bill he's talking about hasn't even been released to the public. Once it is, there will be a 60 day waiting period for everyone to read it before a vote on the TPP will even happen.

I said this from the beginning.

Hoping like hell I'm wrong.

Edit: I got this short email a few days ago from a close friend that works for the DoD.

"If you don't know about the TPP, please start researching it for yourself. You're being left in the dark on purpose and being race-baited by the flag to distract you from what's really happening"

I won't claim to be an expert; everything I've read says that this bill, if passed, will happen behind closed doors and without congressional interference.

But in agreeing to the terms of the legislation granting him trade promotion authority, Mr. Obama has probably made the job of actually approving such a trade accord far more difficult. Trade promotion authority gives Congress the right to accept or reject a trade deal but not amend or filibuster it. But the new bill before both the Senate Finance and House Ways and Means committees this week lays out new requirements for openness and review. The president would have to notify Congress of the accord’s completion 90 days before he intends to sign it, a delay similar to past requirements. But in a new twist, the full agreement would have to be made public for 60 days before the president gives his final assent and sends it to Congress. Congress could not begin considering it for 30 days after that.

Well in that case, great job Obama.

Eta: 60 days should be plenty of time considering the negative attention the TPP has received.

Patton, our Founding Fathers came up with the term "President" because it was the least dignified one they could think of.

It's like in the movie Gung Ho "THOSE ARE RIBBONS OF SHAME!!!"

So President is not a term of respect.

And that's exactly what Obama should have done, respected the office. But he doesn't.
