I've lived in the Golden State for my whole life (23 years old) and it's my first time in the east coast. Any fellow or former Virginians or people who live close by have any tips or advice for me? I would appreciate anything really (from places to visit to public transportation (I don't have a car)). Thanks!

Don't have any advice for you but you might want to try the new Travel Board they would probably be better.

One thing I finally experienced was watching late games! Watching Kobe's last game was worth it, but it sure is gonna be hard watching Laker home games now.

Buy a snow shovel. Assuming since its fair fax your be commuting to DC? If so take the metro. Will save you many hours of traffic. Buy don't rent since rent is more than a mortgage there

Live off Wakefield Capel Rd. Easy access to Little River and Braddock . Close to Beltway. Quite area. Wakefield Park has nice rec/workout center, bike trails, tennis, Olympic pool , etc. Several bus stops that take u to Pentagon.

Just because you now are close to the nation's capital doesn't mean you are now better than the rest of the world.
Just keep it real and know you're in a pretty part of the country.

This isn't tigerdroppings don't feel like you need to go to that board even though you may get more feedback
Just future reference.
Anyways, I've been to VA a ton. Just learn to love the outdoors and you will not be disappointed. It's fricking beautiful, especially in the fall

Go to PN or WV for skiing.
And if you go to Richmond, they really like being called Yankees.

I'll be moving to Arlington in the fall. I'm sure cost of living and housing prices are similar to what you had in LA, but it's triple what I paid in Starkville, MS haha

Pretty sure there is a good Cracker Barrel near town.

Rent a short term place. When your lease is up, move to Arlington if your commute will allow. If your budget/work will allow you to live in the city, you should do that for a little while.
Sorry about the Metro. It used to be nice.
